I went to an estate sale yesterday, pretty much in my own neighborhood and found a small (1100 sf +/-) house PACKED with stuff.  Most interesting was the kitchen; it appeared to be original to the house, approx. 1961.  The grandson of the lady who lived there is taking the house and plans renovations....

Too bad because the kitchen is so original, even original VAT floor.  Kitchen equipment includes a turquoise Norge top mount, turquoise GE Mark 27 with remote control panel, turquoise Hotpoint undercounter dishwasher, turquoise double-bowl sink, and original turquoise laminate counters.

There's a price of $200 on the fridge, but the grandson said they have an offer of $800 for the stove/refrigerator/dishwasher package.

OMG! Did you open the dishwasher? That's the Hotpoint that should have the red whirling disk above the middle of the lower rack to spray water to the upper rack. It was shortly replaced with a little cone-shaped sprayer, but this disk thing was dramatic with a chrome frame. Could you go back and snap a picture of the inside, please, maybe with the lower rack pulled out?

That Mark 27 looks so elegant with the uncluttered front.

Tom,

It did have the red "disk" below the upper rack.  I managed push aside some of the stuff for sale and get the door open enough to verify that fact.  First time I've actually seen one of these, too.  I will have to see what happens at the house as I don't think the sale includes today (Sunday).  Maybe I can get a photo before the kitchen is demolished.

That is an extremely rare dishwasher!!!!  The 1958 DW brochure had the red whirling disk and this control panel style, the 1961 brochure had pretty much the same control panel but the red disk had been replaced with a 1/2 revolving arm for the upper rack.

OMG, it has the aqua gold flecked Formica counters! There is a lot of awesome packed into that kitchen! Any chance those counters can be saved?

Oh My...

What a Beautiful Kitchen and YES, right down to the Formica.

Why, Why, Why do people have to turn kitchens into another mundane bland stainless eyesore ?

(Apologies to those who have SS Kitchens. They're just not my taste.)

I agree!

I want to put linoleum on my counter tops....Every floor covering contractor I have talked to says..You cant do that!....I reply, its a funny thing all Whole Foods stores have it on all their checkout counters!I don't want cold noisy granite in my kitchen.
