Hi folks,

I'm working on a research project where I work and need to discover what colors were available for Hotpoint appliances in 1951. Anyone out there have any resource they could point me at? Thanks in advance!

names of colors

The actual names of the colors for Hotpoint in the mid-fifties were: Sunburst Yellow, Meadow Green, Coral Pink, Seafoam Blue, Woodland Brown and White. A Satin Chrome finish was also offered. These colors are listed exactly as such in my folks 1955 Hotpoint electric range manual.

Fantastic! Next question...

Great! That's very helpful!

Anyone know where I might be able to find color samples?

I could be wrong, but don't think Hotpoint offered appliances in any color but white in 1951, I would guess that 1955 would be the first year of colored appliances for Hotpoint.

Ah, the Wonderdial that controlled everything. I was disappointed when a friend's mom replaced this machine with some middling late 50s Kenmore. After she had it a while, I asked her why she still had the sticker under the lid switch cautioning that the tub would not spin with the lid up. In her usual fussbudget manner she said that it was an important safety warning. We were allowed upstairs in that house one time and I noticed that she did have a nice Hotpoint range.
