Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Jimmy - that is truly a dream machine and it is fascinating with such an advanced design for the times. This is the Dispensomat I have ever seen up close. Sigh - I wonder if there will ever be a Norge in my future... Let's hope there is a matching dryer in your future. There is nothing quite like the sound of the old Norges as they move from fill to agitation - truly the sound of power.

To this day, I still can't believe that Aunt Jennie's Norge still looked showroom new and had the use and care guide when she let it go in 1975. It sat unused in the kitchen for at least 9 years and she continued to polish it weekly along with all her other kitchen appliances. Brooklyn apartment kitchens had little counter space so when not in use the top of the machine was covered with a wooden cutting board - giving her more counter space. I also don't quite recall exactly what was wrong with the machine that rendered it unrepairable. But based Robert's Norge restoration and comments on how difficult that machine was to service, it was probably something no service person wanted to deal with. I would think that today with the internet and parts sources, it might have been salvageable

Bob, if you go back to Thread #2853, I had taken of pic of the Dispensomat dispensing. You can see TWO streams of water flowing. There are 2 spouts that work when the water valve is on and the tub is filling. When the washer gets to the rinse cycle, a solenoid turns on and they pivot to the two rinse compartments and let the water flo thru them. Its a facinating system!

Yes!, call it Dottie!

Personally I've never had names for my cars, appliances, or other tools/equipment/infrastructure, though a couple of my friends do. I can definitely appreciate one that's out of the ordinary and fits well. Dottie is a cute name, and it definitely fits!

Norge controls

I like how the controls work in that one doesn't HAVE to set the controls the way the guide says, that it's really a "recommendation", unlike the Lady K's or the all pushbutton Maytags, as much as I like those set-ups

Lint filter

That washer is a nice find. I didn't think there were any left. I noticed that the lint filter was missing. Sincerely, Kevin Speed Queen, GE enthusiast

Hi Kevin, got your letter yesterday and the wonderful pics of your filters and agitators and washer console collection. Thanks for sending it. I have a filter for the Norge, but just took it off to take the pics. Its not quite the correct filter but works fine. Do you have the correct filter?

Very Nice Machine

I am usually a dishwasher guy & have admired Filter Flo's dishwashers right from finding this club BUT I must admit this washing machine has sure opened my eyes. Very nice machine . Good for you. Michael

lint filters

I think you should retake the picture of the interior of the machine with the filter in it. No , I do not have the metal filter that goes with it. I found a filter/agitator assembly this past summer near Manila, Utah. It came off of a 1962 Norge. I don't know if it is compatible. I would like to find a metal filter to put with my wall mounted collection. I also found a Norge timeline washer , but it is badly rusted. I also found a pink 36" Norge Range, and some really nice wringer washers.

versatronics

I like your collection of versatronic washers. I am going to Billings, Mt. I will try and dig for a variable speed clutch assembly, while I am up there. I hope "Good Stuff" used appliances is still open. I like that Norge dispensomat washer. I would like to bring my GE DISPENSALL AMERICANA, and add it to the collection. I would like to gather all the automatic dispenser machines that are ,in the various collections, scattered all over the country and gather them for a wash fest. I think it would be a blast to see my favorite machines washing, and circulating the water.
