1958 Simpson Semi-Auto Fluid Drive

I was contacted about this machine after placing a Wanted ad for Simpson Fluid Drive machines in a country area of New South Wales....2.5 hours drive from where i live. It's been sitting in a paddock for about 3 years and from what the owner said...it's only problem was it was leaking water. I haven't yet decided if i will get it as i don't have the space so am considering letting Nathan (Brisnat81) have it.I date this machine about 1958-60 before the change in the control panel like the one Nathan and I already have.

Hi Keven,

As the machine can heat its own water,the "H" stands for Heat and i "think" the "M" stands for "Mains" (but i'm not entirely sure)

Hi Jet,

Don't worry...this machine WILL be saved by either myself or Nathan. Your are right...it is too classic to let rot away and machines of this age are becoming very rare here in Oz.

The bowl is actually a solid porcelain.

Hi Shawn,

"Fluid Drive" means the method of transmitting the power to the spin cycle. It uses centrifugal force....sort of like an automatic transmission is how its been described to me.
