Could someone please advise me, my mobile maid that I bought from Robert a couple of years ago, seems to have an oil leak. Yesterday after uncoupling the dishwasher and putting it back in place, I noticed about a teaspoon of clean motor oil on my kitchen floor. I love my dishwasher, and wondered what the problem might be......Thanks, Michael

Hi Michael, well that is very odd, there is no substantial amount of oil in that dishwasher. There should be a small amount in the motor bearing felt, but not enough to leak.

First, are you sure that the oil came from the dishwasher? Could it have been on the floor before you rolled the dw in front of the sink? Also could it have been some dirty water that looked like oil? The dishwasher could have sprung a water leak.

Second, if so can you look underneath and determine where it is coming from?

I agree with Robert

I remember this dishwasher VERY well. The shipping would have cost me $$$$$$$$$$ Or I would have expressed interest in it. I would like to know what becomes of this oil leak. I cannot be sure but I also would think it did not come from that georgious pink interior impeller wash dishwasher. Do you use it daily? Does it perform as well as ours did (as I remember) ? I am still hunting for one. My hope is a pull out built in style. I love my KD11 & use it every day but would replace it with a GE pull out in a heart beat. Mike

dishwasher use

Hi Robert and Mike, I haven`t run the dishwasher since my posting, Usually I run my mobile maid 2 or 3 times a week, love the noise, it`s like having a jet engine in the kitchen. The whistle the machine makes while filling, reminds me of my childhood, my mother had a 51 Westinghouse which made the same sound filling.....anyway I`ll get back and tell you how the next load goes..Thanks

Has the oil leak been solved?

Did you ever find out what the oil leak was ? Would love to see a few pic's of a full loaded dishwasher. I used to be a pro at loading these machines. Michael

dishwasher leak

Hi Everyone, sorry it me sometime to repost but was busy at work, however I have run my mobile maid twice, and eureka! not a spot on the kitchen floor. I have occasionally found a tablespoon or so of water on the floor, but never any oil. Mike, I need to get tech savy enough to post some pics of my retro kitchen. And Mark there is no rinse dispenser.

mayhap a capacitor

We had a GE dishwasher from 1963 which used a pretty big capacitor (the power in the mountains in Colorado in those days was sometimes kinda iffy). It leaked some stuff like oil once...puzzled my dad quite a bit, till it went up in smoke. Since nothing else in the machine could have that amount of oil (that I can think of), perhaps that could be the problem Was a common solution for rural electric systems way back when, still used a lot in Europe. Course, I'd expect Robert to remember such a thing.
