What is their respective capacities, and cleaning abilities?

i do have the electrolux dishmaid (but not the dress!) its not working at the moment as it needs the motor repairing ( i think a rewire or starter switch is faulty) but its ready to go on the draining board , has a revolving carousel no heater and has to be manually filled emptied switched on off etc ill let you know more as i get it working

Moving dishes were one of the things that early dw manufacturers here used to have to calm prospective purchasers about in their ads from the 20s into the early 50s. As it was, there were enough glasses broken in poorly loaded Roto Racks to give them a reputation.

Wow richard!! I love it. Grat to see one in real environment and not simply a photo of an advert. Not much space for clearance between walls and dishes. Reall has to be carefully loaded it appears. I do love those dishes are they modeern ones or actually true vintage? They definitely have a retro looking pattern to them.

The back of the blue plates reminds me of a shade of blue of some dishes that I think were discussed here long ago that were made in England during the war and were commonly called toilet ware or something like that because they were made of the same vitrous china that toilets were made of and by a maker of such fixtures. I hasten to add that these are much prettier and more modern in shape than those utilitarian dishes.

I'd like to make my own contribution to this thread: you can find below the partial scan (the original page is bigger than my scanner) of the advert for one of the first automatic dishwashers ever made and sold in Italy - the REX (Zanussi) 3/dinamic (this is NOT a mistake: as you can see dInamic is the machine's real name).
As you can see, it is pretty similar to the Auto-Jet except for the lower part of the rotating rack which suits Italian cooking/table&cookware use habits. This model was made from 1962/63 till 1972, when Zanussi discontinued the dinamic dishwashers line to make only bi-tub machines with revolving sprayarms.
An aunt of mine bought this machine with her first kitchen furniture when she got married in late 1963 and it served her well for about 12 years. It featured 3 programmes - Intensive, Normal and Plate-warmer, and it was a good performer (the only thing my aunt complains about when recalling this dishwasher is the lack of flexibility in loading, especially as far as the rack upper part was concerned although it could actually hold dinnerware, pots and pans and silverware for an 8-people dinner).
The detergent had to be put in the "hanging bell" you can see on the left under a dish: it popped open when a certain water temperature was reached. The rinse-aid dispenser and its indicator are hidden on the left behind the metal fascia carrying the brand name and model nr.

Hi yes in the lux maid the motor is housed in the chrome container in the top of the machine and a drive shaft takes the rotation down to a complicated mechanism that 1) converts it in to a slower speed turntable to turn the racks around like a record player and 2) a pump which sucks up water from the sump of the machine and pumps through 5 pipes at different and angles to spray top bottom and middle of racks, there is a clever hit and miss system which means only some of the 5 pipes get water as i think the tiny pump and motor are not strong enough for all 5 to be supplied at once, i tried it in the bath with a cordless drill , take a look at what i mean

Oh WOW! Blue Boomerang pattern Formica counters. Thanks for the views of the mechanism and the videos. I think it suffers from the same problem seen in some older men, "weak stream syndrome." It's sort of like some 21st century US dishwashers 40 years ahead of time.
