Ok I know someone out there is going to want to save these. I emailed the seller and he sent me these pictures. They are absolutely stunning! Here's the email I got back:

"Sure do Jon, in the plastic is everything that was given to the original owners for both units when they purchased them; includes the original owners manual, the guarantee on the agitator, the parts list, the service contract and an ad for clorox bleach. All is in mint condition, even the units. Only issue is some black trim under the washers console that is peeling."

Certainly is a great looking Kenmore set! This model year of the Lady K looks so different depending on which color the machine came in. Very similar to the various shades available on the newer front loaders..... ;-)

My grandmother had that exact set. I am looking to replace my washer and dryer I use to something vintage. I hate doing laundry might as well have something esthetically pleasing and fun to play with while doing it.
 
God those look nice. I am looking for a nice BD Kenmore set to add to my collection, but these are too far away.
 
I don't quite now what I was thinking.....

I've been talking with the seller on these for a week or two on and off. Sent a check tonight FedEx... So I guess they're mine. I have two white '65 Lady Ks already, but I don't intend to keep them, but this set is so great looking and unabused. Once they get here, via Phoenix (LONG story), maybe someone will trade me for a '63 Lady K set?

And with the ROTOFLEX, no less. I have a mint rarely used 62/3/4 AQUA Lady K which I would trade in a heartbeat for that bronze beauty. I would bring the blue/green lady down and take the bronze lady home. We could trade back and forth every six months, or yearly if you so desired.

Thanks - I don't know yet Patrick. If I like these they may go in my main laundry room for a while, or I have the second connection in the garage.

I love the fact that they're from Denver and a one-owner/user set. I spent my teenage years in Denver so that's neat to me; I probably was within a mile or two of them countless times back in the 80s. I don't want them to wind up in storage with my others, so if I don't find the 'click' there I will offer them to members here. There is a Lady K set ('63) I'd rather have, and I already have a Coppertone '63 dryer. Who knows....I spoke to the owner and his quote was "I am not being bombarded with offers" so I thought I'd better take them. I can get them to Phoenix on the cheap, then from there to CLT for free, and I just sold some extra Mustang parts, so "what the heck!" I said.

To be honest, I am not keen on the Roto-Flex. I had never seen one until I acquired my first white '65 and it freaked me out. My washer mentor/buddy gave the machine to me, which he did often, and half the time he'd just deposit machines on my driveway for me to "find" when I got home from work. With this one though, he wanted to see my expression when I saw the agitator - I was speachless. My other '65 and the '66 followed close behind.

If I keep these, I'll probably use a Gold Roto-Swirl in the washer, but will keep the 'flex with the machine for originality. One thing I think would be COOL - my laundry room is fairly small (new construction), at the width of my two 29-inch machines plus about 6-8 inches to spare. I have cabinets above the machines, and nothing else in the room. To have these two machines in there, lighted and operating at night would be really neat.

One small admission to make....lol....I joined AW back in January when I stumbled across the site searching the net for repair suggestions on my folk's GE dishwasher. The site breathed nuclear (OK, 'nucular' if you listen to George Bush) energy into my old hobby. My goal was to send some of my machines from storage to greener pastures. Well, I moved one, I have rebuilt 8 or 9 this year, and acquired more than 20 (YES TWENTY) more. :-)
 
Congrats on the 65 set - Kenmore had a very beautiful coppertone color.

Do you have all Kenmore/WP in your collection? I know you posted a picture of your washer hideaway before but I can't recall if you're all Kenmore or if you've dipped your toes in the waters of Maytag and others as well. ;-)

Congrats on the Kenmore set. This is the original version of the LK models that year before they switched to the curved handles. The coppertone is awesome.

My collection is all Kenmore/WP. That seems to be odd here as most club members seem to like at least a few different brands.

I actually never intended to have a "collection" at all. The pictures I posted a while back were of machines as I stored them that I had accumulated in a rebuild & sales business/hobby from the mid 1990s. I got tired of it one day and had had enough after about 6 years, and just put everything away. Next thing I knew 10 years had gone by.

More than half the machines I have I would like to put back out in the field. I'm a sucker for a down-trodden Kenmore, so I basically rescue every one I come across, hence the extra 20 this year. I have a short list of machines I have no desire to get rid of, but my hope is to eventually find homes for all the rest, either through my old avenues or through club members, etc.

Why all Kenmore? I'm a creature of habit and admittedly narrow-minded when it comes to appliances. I grew up with three Kenmores of my mother's, and I got my own new one at age 21, which was basically just like Mom's though 3 years newer. Most of my neighbors when this hobby was developing as a kid had Kenmores, which helped cement my taste. One neighbor had a Maytag and I was bored with it because I couldn't watch it do anything with the lid open. Since it wasn't mine I wasn't going to try to defeat the lid switch, but I remember quickly finding out where it was. One of the other neighbors had a 1963 Kenmore 70, which they replaced in 1976 with an Avocado center dial Maytag. I remember being offended at their choice of brands, and the neighbors thought that was very amusing. When my mother wrote them in the 90s in a Christmas card saying "Gordon wanted you to know that he's now got a side hobby of rebuilding old washing machines" they got such a laugh that we got a second card from them that year filled with congratulatory laughs. All our neighbors from when I was little remember my fascination.

Right now I am working on getting one each of the three Kenmore models my mother has owned. I have two already, and I have a good lead on the oldest. The middle one I've had since 1990, but if I get the oldest (a 1961 Kenmore 70) it and the middle will need cosmetic restorations which I will document here.

If I got into anything non-Kenmore/WP, it would probably be a GE. I did some work on them from time to time when my mentor needed help back when. I have enjoyed using GEs, but when I have to allocate my personal time for a Saturday project, it will hands down go to a Kenmore.

To me, there's no contest between your Roto-Swirl and the Roto-Flex. You have the washer I want, I will have yours - we'll need to make it happen! I even have a like-new detergent cup for the scrubber!

If you keep the cap on, the rubber nubbies deteriorate. I have a brand new cap reserved for you, preferring the look of the rubber nubbies to the cap--another wonderful opposition.

We'll make it happen. I, there; you, here, or us, halfway.

I have always hoped that as the club evolved and the members aged, trading would become commonplace, even seasonal or yearly trading, in addition to permanent.

The cap

That's funny and cool!

I want the cap because our '61 had the scrubber but no cap. Three neighbors had the caps on their machines: a '62 800/Lady K, a '63 70, and a '63 Lady, and I always accused my mom of loosing hers. Later, the mom of a friend of mine that I met in 6th grade had TWO '63 Ladies (they had 6 kids).

Now I see on the Sears parts list that our model never had it to begin with. So now I have the cap and no washer to go with it, yet.....

Though I love tele-porting, after the Creighton novel, "Timeline," that says it's coming soon (haha), we don't need it--or Captain Kirk. A wonderful member very recently posted a pic of the very Aqua LK dryer in question. Whether, Craiged, Ebayed, or home basmented, I forget, because I didn't pay close attention. And no disrespect. Many committed members really love dryers, but I skip by, the way many do when they encounter conventional washers. We're such a big club with so many varied laundry machine interests. Maybe that person will re-post. Of course, as Beloved Eugene well knows, it may well have been a hallucinatory imagining ;'D ........like this Rotoswirl dream, shhhhhhh,
