Fascinating dishwasher!!! We had something very very similar in our new-build house in 1967. It was coppertone, the door was a tad different, but the latch and upper handle were the same. Also a one-knob wonder.
My folks hated it. Finally in about 1974/1975, the wiring caught on fire. I vividly remember my mother shouting while on a long-distance call - "THE DISHWASHER IS ON FIRE!" My dad comes running and says "Let it go" and suddenly there was a white flash, the lights in the kitchen went dark due to a blown breaker, and that was that.
We replaced it with a KDS-17 or 17A. What an improvement, from a BOL piece of sheet to about the best money could buy!
I have not seen a machine like ours since - but I sure do remember the big wheels on the lower rack, and the center tower with the blue cone in it.
