hey travlin cub!
you might be able to get this dishwasher from this guy.
i had an interest in it myself as my first dishwasher i ever had was a 1965 hotpoint. i spent the summer of 69 tearing it up basically through my lack of knowledge. in the end i had to put a new motor, pump, and other parts on it but i had too much fun!
this one here has the same pump and motor as my old hotpoint so i would really love to find one again.
but i am in ohio and this guy is san diego. i made him a friendly offer of 150 bucks which is more than twice what he is asking. the idea was that i would need cooperation and help in holding it for me till i could get it shipped via jim the trucker.
well, this asshole wrote me back, finally, telling me he would "accept" my offer of 150 but that i had to have it shipped by the first week of december or he was "throwing it out to the curb and i would lose my 150!"
well, i had a little faggot fit as i love to call it over that one! and believe me i can have em! i'm quite good at it!
i have been buying these machines for over a year now and have shipped them from as far away as boston, new orleans, atlanta, to name a few places.
i have never had anyone be so rude about it! i mean all he had to do was say "ok pete, your offer is very good, i will hold it for you but please get it picked up in december as i have a space problem here". not this "pick up by ... or i throw it out and you lose your money"
anyway i sent him a curt e mail telling him pretty much what i just said here. that i have never had anyone respond to my offers that rudely in all my 33 dishwashers and 15 washers of collecting. especially since i offered him 150 for a dishwasher that has no parts anywhere available these days!
these old hotpoint designs are gone, like everyone said here, they were not that good! i only want one for the memories of that first experience! i still want one!
but this guy will be quite pissed at me i would imagine, especially if he is as snotty all the time as he was to my offer. i would think if you e mail him now he will gladly sell it you and be a bit more prompt at answering your e mails.
i hope you get it, then some day you can sell it to me! i just want one eventually but if i don't find one, oh well!!!
not gonna lose sleep over it.
let me know how the guy responds to you please, bet he will be sweet as pie after my little episode with him.

he hasnt responded at all to my emails after i offered to come and look at it and gave him my cell phone.. I offered $80 for it and told him i was local.. Never a call or word back.. I have a mini van for right now.. He must not be interested in selling it

this guy just e mailed me, gonna check it now. he's prob tellin me to go to hell but i will find out and get right back. i agree, one of us should get it, at least if you have it i will know there is one left out there in good hands. and again if you ever tire of it i will give you the 150 for it i offered him. i just love those pumps, they look like a ufo, even if they were not that great. they used a 1725 rpm motor too, instead of the 3450 like kitchanaid and g.e., frigidaire and evn d&m used at that time. so that pump was not nearly as powerful as it's competitors.

he's an idiot alright! told me that 150 was chump change to him and he would have his contractor take it to a landfill.
told me if i was that interested i would arrange pick up tomorrow!
told me to forget it among other things, called me a scammer, said he was "protecting his ass"
i did mention that if he had e mailed me back sooner i could have had jim pick it up last week as he was san diego the day before i finally got a response from him.
and if he's so well off that selling this dishwasher for 150 is simply "chump change" why does he need to protect his ass from my possible scamming him? he wouldn't care about it.
oh well, one idiot out of the many i have bought from and found to be very friendly is not bad! this guy def thinks he he's something, actually he is, a pompous ass would be my take on it.

i emailed him, told him i could take it right away and would give $80...No response back.. I do know i have to remove it my self and IMHO, i think it may have been slightly used... Its comign from a kitchen remodel from what i gather..
It would be great to have but i dont wanna deal with this dip wad..

who knows, he seems pretty volatile and unreasonable, but i do like that stove too. cute!
maybe you should drive to san diego next week and check the local landfill, you will prob find that little hotpoint lying on it's top in a heap of other junk! you might get it free.
it's a shame this guy is such an idiot about it, all he had to do was be friendly and respond back to his e mails promptly and not act like such a baffoon and he would have sold it to one of us by now!

So what's up with the rust spots on the upper edge of the kick panel (yellow arrows), exactly where GE-made DW's always get them from leaks at the bottom of the door?
And why is the price on the new listing only $59, when the seller so emphatically turned down $150?
Those things having been asked, I had one of these in an apartment I rented back in the late '70s, and it wasn't the worst DW I've ever used.

i remember
the first hotpoint i had in 1969, it leaked around the bottom of the door on the left side. i replaced the bottom door seal (along with a lot of other parts) and it still leaked. i remember well how we kept it in the basement because i could not get the leak stopped. my aunt and i would bring the dishes down from the second floor kitchen to the basement every nite to wash them, we were both so proud of this dishwasher! what great memories!
i had another hotpoint in 75 that i got out of the trash, same design, that ufo style pump and black spray arm and the tube up the middle. it leaked too, same place! i didn't know they all had this problem!
i remember it washed ok, i had never seen a kitchenaid in action yet, but it was noisy and looking back i don't feel it was one of the better pump designs that i have seen.
the first one i had had a different type center wash tube going to the top rack. instead of the ball on top this one had a half spray arm on one side of the tube and a dial you could turn to increase or decrease water flow thru it. like you would really want to decrease it, i'm sure it wasn't that powerful anyway, looking at the design itself.
he turned down my 150 cause he's pissed at me for "insulting" him. how dare i!!!??? and if 150 is such "chump change" to him
why did he re-post it for 59 again? that's even chumpier change to a man of his wealth!

got mine running this week after a 10 hour struggle with the pump and new motor. that d&m design can be the biggest pain to rebuild, plus mine has the old cast iron pump housing, your's prob does too here. gonna post pics of my rebuild here soon. sure love using it, that top rack really spins! over 100 rpm!
yes i am interested in your wonderful lady there! there is nothing as elegant looking as a lady kenmore in it's heyday!

seller e mailed me tonite and apologised, said he is selling dishwasher for his mom and she wants to accept my offer of 150.
i emailed back and also apologised and asked that we start over here. i will contact jim to see if he is indeed going to be in the area that first week of dec.
i had a hunch i might get that dishwasher after all. it does mean a lot to me cause again it was the same pump system as the hotpoint i got as a kid, my first appliance! i kinda feel my collection will be complete if i get this one!
