revvinkevin/kevin:

sorry for the topsy-turvy videos.
LOL...

i hope i didn't give anybody motion-sickness with the turning of my camera-phone. i thought the video rotated like it shows in the screen. and i started vertical and thought i'd get a bigger image if i turned the phone horizontal.
i apologize for that. i will try to make another video with the camera in horizontal mode only.

thank you kevin.
:o)

daveamkrayoguy/dave:

you got it!
:oD

i'm glad you enjoyed the short video. i did make a little longer video of a DELICATE load on the GENTLE speed. and during the agitation, i switched the speed to NORMAL speed, to show the difference in the rollover. but again, i made a topsy-turvy video.
:o/

so, the next time i make a video, i will try to remember to start recording with the phone horizontally and i'll try not to move the phone around!
;o)

newvista58/louis:

thank you.

i never even knew about the frigidaire washers until i joined this group! except for that my grandma had a washer when i was little, and i remember it washed the clothes differently. but i didn't know what brand the washer was or anything. i just remember it didn't wash the clothes like i remember my mom's (whirlpool) washing clothes.

i hope you find a 1-18 washer soon too! just keep looking...
:o)

update...

i just wanted to share my experience of washing clothes in a frigidaire 1-18 washer...

i loaded the washer by dividing the tub into the 4 sections. i sort of tossed each item into the 4 positions (12, 3, 6, 9 o'clock). when the washer stopped, i took the clothes out, one item at a time, NO TANGLES WHATSOEVER!
in fact, believe it or not, but the clothes came out of the dryer more tangled, than they came out of the frigidaire 1-18!

another thing that i've seemed to learn is you have to use less detergent in a frigidaire. and that you have to use more DOWNY no matter if the load is small or large.
i tried to match the DOWNY to the load size, but with the superb rinsing the frigidaire does, if i filled the cap to match the load size, the clothes didn't have the DOWNY smell or feel to them, when they came out of the washer.
that's been my experience so far,
with the load of towels (3/4 cap of DOWNY, no smell or soft feel of DOWNY)
and the DELICATE load (full cap of DOWNY, clothes were soft & DOWNY scented).

i do have a question for you frigidaire users;
does your frigidaire washer also do a spray rinse during the final spin?
this frigidaire does this:
fills,
washes,
spin drains,
spray rinses,
fills,
rinses,
spin drains,
spins,
spray rinses,
keeps spinning until finished.

is the 2nd spray rinse, during the final spin, normal?

It's that spray rinse in the final spin that is rinsing out your fabric softener.
If I need to add softener to a machine with a final spray-rinse, I usually just go add the softener to the rinse manually and wait there until it fills and starts the rinse. Then I shut off the water faucets. An annoyance I don't have to deal with when using a Maytag, so those are my go-to machines when I have to use softener.

I think the Circle-Spray does a great job of rinsing. Too good.

This is quite the thread, so many replies you'd think it was a Kenmore thread. Lol

Very nice washer. Roger is a real good resource to have nearby, sorted out the water valve problem without breaking a sweat, i'm sure.

That's a very unique panel, one of the best. It looks and sounds great, you will enjoy that washer a lot. Congrats!

the vids are great, your coming along nicely with that 1-18....

you getting the hang of this.......with standard loads, try different water levels to see what turnover results you get, start small, and then add 2" at a time....

I have done a huge load of towels on the MAXI level, and it will turn it over with ease, but again, that was one large load....you have to have a bit of friction between the tub and pulsator...

can't help but wonder, after the next few months of enjoying this, what machine strikes your interest next?

Christina, you have come a long way.....yet, can't help but think, we created a monster.....lol

many hugs

Gyrafoam/steven:

I never thought about turning off the water after the rinse cycle started, to eliminate that final spray rinse! But that makes total sense. And would be so easy for me to do because I can turn both water valves off with one lever handle!

Thanks for that tip!
;o)

Gansky1/gan:

Thank you.

Yes, I can't praise Roger enough for everything he's helped me with! He is definitely a very knowledgeable. He knew exactly what to check, when the HOT water kept coming into the washtub. And fixed it just as quickly too!

Thank you again
:oD

yogitunes/Martin:

Thank you
:o)

As for after the next few months of enjoying the frigidaire, I don't think I have any room for another machine to strike my interest. Moms would really have a fit! She wasn't none to happy when after like 3 or 4 days she realized there was a new washing machine in the laundry room!
LOL...

And yes, you're all guilty of breathing life into this monster awakened in me! But like the McDonald's commercial says;
"pa da pa pa pa, I'm lovin' it"!
LOL...
:oD

update...

1. i couldn't get the fabric softener to fit onto the agitator? the opening seems to be the same size as the top of the agitator opening. so it doesn't fit onto the agitator to lock it on.

2. i did finally get the front panel off of the cabinet. i will try to take pictures of the inside of the cabinet tomorrow in better lighting so you all can see what the inside of the cabinet looks like.

sorry i haven't been posting much. i've been kinda busy lately:
sister's wedding this past weekend:
and another project i've been working on for the past few weeks.

but i have been using the frigidaire 1-18 whenever i wash clothes.
:oD

There are two types of disc style fabric softener dispensers which look identical from the top. One is made to fit the 1964-70 solid tub models and another one is for the 1971 and later 1-18 machines. Take a picture of the bottom of your dispenser to show what style you have. Sometimes, they can also break their retaining tabs.

Here's what yours should look like.

I think...

This may be for the solid tub Frigidaire washers?
It doesn't have the smaller tabs where the little holes are
:o/

I'm afraid...

That this fabric softener dispenser is for the solid tub Frigidaire washers...

Can the DOWNY dispenser ball be used in the Frigidaires too? Or does the up & down agitation pop the rubber plug?

Also I just posted a video on YouTube showing the inside of the cabinet with the front panel off so you can see what it looks like. I'm waiting for it to upload. Last time I checked, it was at 41%.

There's a layer of gray dust and spiderweb in there. So I need to vacuum it out and probably give it a wipe down too, to get inside of the cabinet cleaned up.

That's right, it's for the earlier machines. From the top, they do look very similar but the design changed a few times.
The one on the instruction sheet is probably what was stamped on the box and not the same as what's under the dispenser itself. I have a similar instruction sheet from 1974 for mine and it does show your part number and another part number for the 1-18 washers, neither match what I have on my fabric softener dispenser. I guess the part number on the box is either for a kit (which includes the blue cap) or it's a number that superseded the number stamped on it.

Are you sure you don't also want a solid tub Frigidaire washer now that you have a fabric softener dispenser for it?!

Look for par numbers 2833241 or 0634147 if it comes with the box and on the dispenser itself, the number should be 0634610 if it's the "freezbee" style that fits 1-18 machines. I have the later style that fits 1-18 machines too which has a white cap and is made of parts that disassemble for cleaning but I don't see where I stored it! It's part of the kit 2833241 but I don't know which numbers are stamped on it. It looks like the one in the 3 first pictures (the 4th is the freezbee style):

I don't think so...

No, I don't think I want a solid tub Frigidaire even though I have the fabric softener dispenser! I have no extra space and besides, moms would throw me out, with my washers following behind!
LOL...

Thank you for posting the pictures and the different part numbers, and your descriptions.
