Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

My first memory of Dexter was when I was about 4 years old. My mother had a Dexter twin-tub wringer washer. She was doing the laundry one Monday (it must have been about 1957)and she had me stay with her so I wouldn't get in any trouble. When she needed to take a load of clothes outside to hang up on the clothes line, she would tell me to stay right there by the washer, so I wouldn't get into any trouble. Well, my first real memory was reaching up with my hand and moving the lid over and then scooping out a handful of suds. I was enamored with washing machines from that time on. We kept that machine running until I was in my med teens in the '60s. The tubs finally began to leak water. I really miss those days.

HI Geoff, My twin-dex is in need of painting. The metal skirt is very rusty but the tubs are like new. There are knobs that are used to empty the tubs. One of mine leaks, but I think with some new rubber seals on the drain, it would be ok.
I wash in one and rinse in the other. You sure can do a pile of clothes in nothing flat. The machine is quiet too. Gary
