The ‘64 ColdSpot has started making a sort of descending whistle sound that repeats about every 3 or so seconds. We think that its the evaporator fan motor bearings. Anyone have experience getting inside to work on that part? We’re pretty sure that we can find a suitable replacement motor if we need to, but if anyone knows of a sure thing replacment, we’d certainly appreciate the help!
It’s holding 14 degrees in the freezer and 27 degrees in the fridge with it set for coldest, completely empty, so everything is running fairly well. But it started this noise today and we turned it off so as not to cause any damage. We hope that this is indeed the motor bearings and that it’ll be a quick fix, because the inside is cleaning up beautifully!
Hope someone out there can shed light on our issue. Thanks in advance!
