Do you find the current formulations of Tesco and Sainsburys own brand liquid or powder detergents as good for stain removal and fabric care as the premium brands such as PERSIL?

Have only used the Sainsbury's powder, although I assume Tesco and Waitrose have theirs made by the same manufacturer too. Never had any issues with performance, everything comes out clean with all stains removed, and my white towels still look brand new. Rinses out fairly easily as well. At £2 for a medium box or £4 for large it's well worth a try.
Likewise - can't speak for the Tesco one, but Sainsbury's (and Waitrose & M&S) bio tablets and powder are good.
Lidl and Aldi's detergents are also pretty good. Don't really notice any difference from those that I've used to Persil, and all rinse out better in my soft water than Ariel or Fairy.

The Lidl Formil bio powder and colour liquid are both reasonable products and work quite well. I haven't tried any other own brands as tend to stick to Surf or Persil bio powder.
Interesting thread though as it would be interesting to know. Costs me a fortune in detergent and softner washing for all us lot.

Sainsburys own brand softeners are good and smell much better than Comfort. Also they contain no animal ingredients so great for vegetarians like myself

Sainsbury's biological powder is very good, costs £2.50 for a 20 wash box and it work wonders! Morrisons bio is great as well, cheaper but is the same stuff since they're all made by McBride, and the only difference is the brand name on the box, the size and the price.
Sainsbury's and M&S fabric conditioners are very nice. M&S do an Ocean Fresh variety which smells gorgeous and Sainsbury's Clear Skies could easily rival established brands. Asda fabric conditioners have been revamped and are £2 for 70 washes, the Star Fruit one is really nice as well as the Cotton Fresh one.
It's so nice to use cost effective detergents and have them be just as good as the big brands, except the finished product has not been tested on animals, nor have any of the ingredients and they haven't been derived from animals which is great.

The store-brand own detergents tend to wash very well, but are heavy on the bleach. I think nearly all of them are 15-30% oxygen based bleaching agents - good for whites and hot washes. Whereas Persil has a lower bleach content but higher surfactant and ezyme content, making it a better "all rounder" for whites and coloureds.
Most of the own brands only contain 1 or 2 enzymes, vs Persil's 4, and lower quality surfactants.

Actually....
I'd look into the "own brand softeners dont contain tallow" claim if I were you.
I was on a website called the vegan womble and I read that Mcbride softeners were vegetarian but not vegan as they did contain animal derived ingredients.
Not saying this is 100% correct but i just felt you may find it interesting.

Especially as Mcbride make softeners for the Co-op and M&S, yet said in a response that Surcare was free from animal derived ingredients (confused)
