This was a conversation heard at a recent family funeral reception between a family friend, my aunt, who always amazes me with her take on life and my dumb cousin who always amazes me because nobody has killed her yet.

A friend on hand to my aunt "Most of your family sure were a bawling out at the grave yard"

my cousin to my aunt" because your mom is dead huh?"

My Aunt "No Stupid, we bawled about that the other day when we heard she was gone. Today its forty below out, we were bawling coz we were watching a 750 dollar funeral spay wilt on top of a casket!"

Does anyone else have family like this?

Blame it on Tourettes Syndrome

YES.

I can't begin to tell you of the stupidty that issues forth.
The total lact of tact, diplomacy, kindness, class. I cringe at the amount of private information my aunt(s) give(s) out.

Case in point at a wedding, my aunt speaking to a distant acquaintance she has not seen in decades.

Acquaintnace: Have you seen my daughter here she is.
Aunt: Oh, she can't be your daughter she is too fat.

At 60+ years of age there is no point in trying to teach her anything.

With my family...being French Canadian and all....with funerals its a big family reunion. There are people taking pictures with the stiff in the box and then the ones that hated the person in the box boo hoo-ing the loudest. Its not like a black funeral where people toss themselves at the casket...Then you have the so called proffesed cheap skates like my dad where they question where did they get the casket down to the where did they buy the flowers. My dad said to my aunt...."You paid $400 for flowers when they are going to be picked up by some person after we stick mom into the ground. You could have got them at Sams Club for much less".
Or the classic...when they see the person dujour in the box...I always hear...Wow they look good dead, why could they have looked that good alive???
My sister...bless her heart ...is the pinnacle of white trash. She says it like it is and gawd knows if she spawns anymore kids I will have her bitchslapped...anyways I always tell her...when you mess with Diane you mess with the whole trailer park....ooooh does she hate that when I say that.

1st it was insensitive of her to say that.
2nd she was overcharged, a spray shouldn't cost $750, maybe $150. They must have had a lot of roses and plenty of gold foil for that price.

People have a way of being what they think is smart, but actually insensitive at funerals. My oldest sister brought her knitting to my Dad's funeral and proceeded to knit through the entire service. Then says "Well it was better than I expected, and a lot more than he deserved."
To think she was his favorite.

" Funerals & Loved Ones...

Given we have a number of members who have lost loved ones very recently, am finding this banter just a little too insensitive!!!!...perhaps its just me...I do hope so!!! "

It doesn't bother me, and I'm getting ready for one of my cousin's funeral. She was a very special lady, at 65 much too young to go. Had a long battle with pancreatic cancer. They are doing a split funeral, one in FL another in MI. No warring relatives at this one unlike the last a few weeks back.
