I was at the kids' house tonight and my step daughter mentioned that she thought her washer (AWN 412, I think) had developed a leak. I removed the front panel and found no evidence of a leak anywhere, then I pulled the entire machine out to check the floor underneath it and found no evidence there either. All hoses and connections that I could see looked good.
What I did see was some rust around the outer tub, but there was no outward indication of how it got there. Rust is never a good thing, but it seems to be in an arrested state. I took a couple of pictures (sorry -- sideways syndrome strikes again). Any ideas?
Also, on the inside of the front panel there's a thick square of styrofoam that has been chewed up by a cross member on the front of the tub. There's another square of styrofoam on the inside of the left panel (when facing the washer) that has also been chewed up by the tub bumping it (visible in picture 1). For whatever reason, there's no such styrofoam on the right panel (see picture 2). I couldn't see the inner side of the rear panel so will invoke Miss Clairol on that one.
