How stupid does this seller think people are? This machines was last produced by Goodman, I believe in 2000/2001 approximately.

He says it's two years old. At best it's 13 years old, and maybe a year or two older than that.

He says it was $729 new. Well he didn't pay 729 two years ago as it was not in production then. And if he bought it used it wasn't even close to $729.

It 2000, according to Consumer Reports, this model had a retail of $590. So on the rare chance he bought it new, he is still lying about the price.

I am going to flag this liars post. One person flagging won't get it off of Craigslist. If some of you will flag it also, we get this despicable person's ad off of Craigslist.

wow!

Thanks everyone. Craigslist has the listing flagged for removal already.

Shows what we can when we work together as a team!!

Amana dryer

It was a white Amana Dryer. Looked to be a 2000 model, built by Goodman, with the stainless drum. I should have saved the picture for the archives I guess.

When I posted the link, it was active. However, due to the good work of those of you on this site we got the ad pulled down in a matter of minutes. By the time you looked at the link, Craigslist was in the process of removal.

He may or may not try to repost it tomorrow.

the liar just reposted his ad

If we all work together we can knock him off again. Just click on "prohibited" at the top of his listing and the AW appliance police can maybe keep someone getting defrauded when they think they are purchasing a "2 year old" dryer when in actually its 14 years old.

If he continues to repost then Craigslist will ghost his listing.

He did change the "new" price from 729 to 700. Now, all of a sudden the dryer is from his mother's estate.-[this post was last edited: 9/11/2014-23:40]

why

Because he is purposefully trying to make the reader think its two years old. His ad did change from the first time listing, which I knocked off Craigslist. He did say it was a one owner machine and purchased new for 729 in the first posting.

Also if you read my first posting I indicated he did not pay 729, even if it was purchased used. This ad now reads 700. The actual list price was $590 in 2000 and retail is usually much less than list.

So no matter how you look at it he is trying to rip off the buyer. That's not right.

So that's why I'm upset. Well not upset really, I just don't want someone to buy it under false belief thinking they are getting a 2 year old machine that cost 700 dollars and finding out that 14 years of life are gone. And I don't want him to get rewarded for getting money for lying and misrepresentation.

Now it's saying it's for sale at $180.

If not purchased used, it could have been leftover stock. I remember the local GE dealer would have warehouse sales from time to time, to clear out discontinued models. Remember going there once after I got out of high school ('74), and they had a Canary Yellow 40" GE range for sale. It would have had to have been at least 7 years old at the time. This was in a small town; probably not as likely to happen in a larger city.
