Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

They were listed at Frigidaire's website for a couple of years, before the 2010 redesigned models came out. If I had to have a Frigidaire laundry center, I'd certainly rather have one with their front-loader. I'll bet the added weight of a front-loader made moving that thing around very interesting!

Since one can stack the washer and dryer I always wondered why someone would choose this over separate machines. I guess the dryer controls are at eye-level rather than at the very top of the unit. That's the only advantage I can see.

The controls are at a level that makes them handicap accesible, would be my guess. alr

I would say with a "reacher", to unload.  It would be difficult to manipulate the controls, if at the top with a "reacher". alr

The main thing I saw with this configuration, is the access panel for the hoses and hook-ups....for some installations, where normally two regular units could stack, you would probably have no problem with the washer, but if it came to the dryer, to hook up a gas line and the vent, lets say in a closet, almost impossible for some to reach around....with the center panel removed, it would ease installing once in place.....

Why A one Piece Frigidaire Stack

Martin and Alex are on to the reason this was a great machine. We sold lots of these and have hundreds of customers with them. As  Martin was saying installing regular machines stacked in a closet is an almost impossible feat in many cases. And when you stack the current Frigidaire s it is either impossible or close to it to access the controls on the W or D the dispenser area or even little unimportant things like the washers drain pump, LOL [ the most common repair we perform on F F L washers as they have no user cleanable drain trap like WP and many other brands ]

But overall this was the most serviceable design that FD ever sold in a stack laundry appliance, as noted it even had a little shelf for laundry aids, you would not believe how often we see stacked washers badly damaged [ or destroyed ] by bottles of leaking liquid detergent or fabric softener leaking into the controls of these machines when they are placed on the top of the dryer.
