Here are a few early washers that I just bought last month at an auction. The guy had a nice antique washer collection. There was also supposed to be a lot of vintage soaps in their original packaging, but they didn't make it to the block. Someone must have gotten them before the sale.

The first pic is that of 3 of the wooden washers that I bought.

Finally, this is a Savage washer/spin dryer. This is the same Savage as the arms company. The tub actually gets tilted for wash, and upright for spin. Again, not sure if it works yet, the cord was missing.

Wow what beautiful washers congratulations on your finds...
that Savage washer spin dryer is one of my faverites
Lee Maxwell from Oldewash.com has a video on how that works pretty fantastic when you flip the drum for spin.
Incredable finds.
Thanks for posting.

At my local threshing bee, there was a 1924 hart-parr wringer
that a vendor had for sale(already sold for $350 by the time
i saw it)it was dirty and unpolished(lots of copper and brass
-including the tub)but was all there and in working order-
would be a real beauty all cleaned up!

$350?!? Those copper washers would've been out of my possession so quickly their tubs would still be spinning!

Darren, I saw that video. I am hoping to get out to Lee Maxwell's place next year. It's still a big IF, but we'd like to try to do it.

Todd,

Do you know where a person could locate a hand powered 1917 Maytag? My great-grandparents had one. In 1949, my Mom's aunt and uncle entered it in a contest to find the oldest Maytag in Marathon County, and it won. Don't know where it ended up after that though.

Tim, I would have no idea. Those Maytags are probabaly the rarest of the rare. I would love to run across one of those, but I probably never will.
