Touting the safety of SO2...
They make a point of including a copy of this article, which is a very amusing read. The idea is obviously to make everyone think that SO2 is safe. It is "non-poisonous" (seriously!!), can be handled without inconvenience, and 5,000,000 pounds are handled each year at Frigidaire without incident(!).

Very educational, and a reminder of how much more convenient kitchen operations became with the advent of electric refrigeration. For many years now, we've thought nothing of tossing leftovers into the fridge. In the days of the ice box, it was necessary to calculate the amount of food to prepare in order to avoid any leftovers. Perhaps this is where the practice originated of encouraging family members to take an extra helping of whatever was left, along with the phrase, "I'm only going to throw it out otherwise." Thanks for going to the trouble of scanning and posting.
