A new kitchen

So, the first day of new kitchen installation is over.

And so far almost everything is perfect.
Biggest "regret" is thar my mum wasn't aware that the backsplash wasn't one piece, so there is this little clash right above the sink.

Other than a quick emergency electrician visit because the power outlet for the vent hood was accidentally connected to the light switch in the backsplash.
There are 2 outlets up there - one was supposed to be switched for a light connection, the other wasn't for the vent hood, and they hooked up both to the switch.

But that was a 20min thing switching some wires around.

The vent hood exhaust was enlarged to the biggest standard (150mm, 6 inches or so) as that vent hood is powerful (up to just shy of 720m³ per hour, 25k cuft per hour).

Here the intermediate state

Am currently heating up the oven for the first time.
Pretty quiet, got to 275C/525F in under 10min with fast preheat - that's 3,6kW of heating power.

The fan reverses every 3min once heated - that's called 4D convection and supposedly makes turning or choosing a particular level irrelevant.
Allows for cooking on up to 4 levels at once aswell.

The vent hood is impressive - dosen't get much louder than a dryer even on higher levels.

Am I correct in thinking I see a cabinet for a raised dishwasher?

That is correct.

The DW will be fitted today.

It's not optimal at all how that was designed, but not really much one could have done differently.

This way, you are basically washing up in a corner if you use the sink as it is right next to the DW.
However if you would have moved the sink to the left to get space beside it, you would loose the last big working surface between cooktop and sink.

The sink basin is on the left of the sink, so drip area is right next to the DW.
Which is flipped as to how my mum is used to, but that just means she has to get used to washing up in reverse basically, grabbing dirty dishes from the left and putting them down to the right.

The sink is also a little smaller than usual - only 2 50cm (20") cabinets instead of 2 60cm (24") cabinets.

That way, you still get one large 80cm (31,5") cabinet to the left between cooktop and sink.
Next to the 24" cooktop there is still 18" of cabinet and worktop so you have some space either side.

The area around the sink has an LED light under the wall cabinets switched by said light switch in the back so you have a nice bright working area even with the tall cabinets coming down quite far.

It's done

95% happy, most things are just smaller fitment issues that just happen in such old buildings.

The DW is impressively quiet, even when running empty.

We kept the protective film on the cabinets where possible - that's why those stickers are there.
Will be a couple of months before my mum actually can fully move in, and as long as people keep working in the flat better safe than sorry.

The toaster and kettle I got for my mum as a present as that specific color is no longer produced and I got basically the last units.

Is there a splash guard next to the dishwasher to protect the white wall (or washable paint)? Microwave will go on top of the dishwasher?

No splash guard - just the white wall.
The wall is just roll on structure plaster that has been painted white - repainting it white wouldn't be much work.

No microwave - my mum hates microwaves.
Not because she is one of those "microwaves are dangerous" people. She just hates the appliance. She had some annoying times with her microwave ovens and thus despises them.

In general, she is a very "opinionated" woman.
Once she decides she hates something she hates it, weather there is any reasonable thought behind it or not.

Incredible strong woman - very much her in a lot of ways.
Love her to bits.

There is however a lift door above the oven with an outlet accessible above the oven should she ever decide she needs one again.

It looks GREAT!
I'm really loving that raised dishwasher, that slim line frig/freezer, and the switches.
Isn't just incredible how quiet those dishwashers are these day.

I hope your Mum truly enjoys this.
