I have discovered a new haunt to check. The Habitat For Humanity Store. An Interesting collection of all sorts of things. As I was looking around, I heard two people talking about a 'Old piece of junk dishwasher' that they were thinking of buying to take it apart for the power cord reel and casters. Hmmmm... I decided to go look for myself (rather quickly) and saw a collection of misc. appliances donated from other jobs. And right there in the middle was this little one. I couldn't resist and paid a few bucks and hauled it away from the vultures.

A shaded green portable Sears dishwasher. It looked rather high end for it's time.

Now, what REALLY caught my eye...

was the top. I don't remember seeing a top like this being made of a soft feeling material. In great shape with a design embossed into it. Let's see if I can picture it...

Now, does it work?

Actually, quite well and remarkably quiet. It really tosses the water around and drains quickly. The down side is that there is a leak from underneath on the right hand side. It is NOT coming from the motor or seals. I suspect either a hose from the pump that supplies water to the upper arm jets or a air gap that's mounted right about where the leak comes from. It should be correctable.

The reason for all the pictures is that this little one is looking for a loving home. My collection's focus is elsewhere but I could not stand to see it gutted while still in great shape. Soooo, SPEAK UP! Anybody want this little slice of green colored, Roto-Racking Portable dishwasher goodness?

Andrew, that is just beautiful!  Those blue racks just take your breath away.  Don't think I've seen a model with the cutlery basket on the side.  Very good rescue story too, the Habitat store here has some good stuff once in a while, but I doubt something like this would ever make it past the loading dock.

Are we gonna have some video proof of that? *Hint hint*

Actually, I thought of that since I've always wondered what made the Roto move. Maybe in a day or three, I'll shoot some video. OR, I could always stuff you inside, Dan, and you could yell loudly how it does... LOL!!!

Peter

I could be off on this, but I think the Mod # is somewhat like the
Km washing machines of that era, ie 587. "71" 360 suggests that it was either
manufactured in 1971 , or at least intended to be available for that years
offering.

Short Wash vs. Light Wash

Peter, I've seen something similar on a couple of other D&M dishwashers of this era.  If you will notice, there is no Rinse & Hold.  One of those cycles doesn't include a heated dry and the other one does.  It's like one cycle does the sequence WRR.  The otherr one does the typical "light wash" of RWRR dry.

Magic Carpet Drew ...

You always find such beautiful machines Drew !

Great find !

It's just as good as Kevin's find last year with the Kenmore he found mint.

Paul your eye's are burning lol.
