or whatever works for you. Some like the Frankfurt style galley kitchen. It's all the space some have.
I was lucky to have an eat in kitchen and a hearth room. It's a step down.
To make room for an island, we now use the hearth room also for dining. We relocated the refrigerator on the wall of the former eat in space, left of the pantry. This gave us an extra 42 inches of counter space next to the range, where the frige used to be. Also a 36 inch drawer base cabinet terminating at a 45 degree angle. A glass door upper cabinet also opens up the room.
Now the Island is between the frige, and the L shaped cabinet lay out, sink, and range. It's a large triangle, but three can cook in there now no problem. Others can watch the cooks making the meal.
It took me almost 3 months to finish it, but it was like moving to a new house.

Range and Mixer

The range in the video is a Frigidaire and mixer, a Hamilton Beach model E

I don't know, but with all of those foods not sealed in Tupperware, it looks like a roach raceway.

I like the abundance of counter space.

 

Nowadays the garbage chute in the counter has been superseded by the in-sink garbage disposer.

 

Most homes I've lived in have about 1/4 of the counter space this model kitchen has. It means bread and pastry prep is generally not done. I think in a lot of kitchens, the kitchen table, if available, sees double duty as a food prep area.

 

And the modern kitchen probably must accommodate a lot more small electric appliances than that kitchen. In addition to the electric mixer, we generally also have: coffee maker, toaster, microwave, rice cooker, blender, toaster oven, electric can opener... to name just a few. Also an under-counter automatic dishwasher... which might eliminate some of those roach nests... lol...

I have the

Mixer and that red biscuit/doughnut cutter, I use that cutter to cut biscuits all the time, it has a insert for doughnuts, I knew it was old, but not THAT old, the mixer is sometime before 1948, that's when the model G Hamilton Beach came out.
