A282 Maytag Help

Well guys my 1966 Rollermatic bit the dust. I'm trying to find her a good home to retire too instead of the crusher. I just happen to be at the Habitat Restore and purchased an A282 Maytag washer. It only needed a $6.00 part otherwise with some minor cleaning she's in great shape. I need to get the top off so I can fix her and do some more cleaning. Can someone help me?

Top Removal

Hi:

First, UNPLUG THE MACHINE. Next, you'll need to take off the front. Look at the bottom of the front, where the toe-kick (the recessed area at the bottom) is. About 4-1/2 inches up from the floor, you'll see two screws. Tilt the machine back, and support it with a piece of wood. Support the bottom of the front panel with one hand, and remove the screws with the other. Now, just lift the front panel away. You now have access to the underside of the top.

For the top itself, refer to the diagramme in the link provided.

P.S.- Levelling

Forgot to tell you- be sure you level your new baby properly. It will make a huge difference in the noise level. The levelling feet are the usual sort- they screw up and down to compensate for changes in the floor level. Once you have the machine level, you need to tighten the lock nuts on the levelling legs. These are nuts on the shaft of each levelling leg; they are intended to be tightened up against the bottom of the cabinet. If you don't tighten the nuts, the leg will unscrew itself and the machine will be unlevel again as soon as a little spin vibration occurs.
