Whatever happened to ABC and Easy? I remember reading a vintage Consumer Reports and they top rated an Easy or ABC washer in the 50's. However, several years later (1960's)one of their models was at the bottom of the ratings or even unacceptable.
Were the two brands related? Did they ever merge? I swear I remember seeing an advertisement for an ABC Easy washer from an old Life or other vintage magazine.

I have two of the 1930's ABC Washer/Spinner machines. One came from the Chicago suburbs, and the other from Pittsburg.

Please go to the link below which introduced my Wash Party in 2011. On reply #16, is the video that I made of the Pittsburg machine in operation.

The picture compilation is made of photos that I received of the washer while it was still in Pittsburg, and before it had been cleaned up. A better picture is in the thread below.

ABC was bought out by Kelvinator sometime in the mid-late 50's. For a time they were sold under both names. Kelvinator then was purchased by WCI around 1970, and is now a trademark of Electrolux (Frigidaire).

Easy was a brand of Murray, and was later bought by Hupp Corp., who also owned Gibson. These brands also became part of WCI, and therefore are now owned by Electrolux. I don't think the Easy name is currently in use in the US.
