I modifed my FL by adding a water level selector to my FL.
The orginal water level is 3.25" from the bottom of the inner tub, which is about 4.5 gal of water.
The new high water level is 4.5" which is about 6 gal.
The soak-up by laundry could take an extra of 1 gal.
The high water level will use 4.5 gal more water (with 1 wash + 2 rinses)

Tried a full-load this evening using high water level. It does wash and rinse better than the original low level.
Will use the high water level for full-load laundry and low water level for 1/2 load..

How to add this water level selector to my FL?
The pressure switch of FL is used to control the water level. It was discovered that there are two settings of water level in the pressure switch of my FL.
The manufacturer only uses the low level setting and not using the high level at all. Apparently they do this to get a name for water/energy efficiency at the expense of "washing/cleaning".
I added a double-pole double-throw switch to select High and Low level.

what kind ?

what brand of FL do you have ? I was able to increase/adjust the water level on my FL Kenmore which is a "Frigidaire" make.

My FL is Huebsch LTZ85 (with heater) which is NOS floor model bought recently. Huebsch is sold in Canada, but not SQ.

Huesch LTZ85 = Speed Queen LTS85 , which both uses electo-mechanical timer.

However since 2003/4, the mechanical timer models are no longer available and are replaced by electronic timer models : Huesch 90 (no heater) and SQ 90 (no heater) and SQ 95 (with heater).

I remember some older European FLs did have an extra high waterlevel, or even an extra preassure switch, to shut off the valve just in case if the preassure switch fails.
This one was not in use for the washprogram but only to prevent flodding.
I don`t know the wiring of your Huebsch, but maybe that`s the purpose of the extra level.

Use less water at High water level !?

Huebsch 80 series is same as SQ 80 series. So SQ 80 series should have the same pressure switch.

In fact, there are three water levels in this pressure switch: Low, High and OverFlow. The manufacturer only use Low and OverFlow.

I am using less water for full-load laundry at High water level.
Water usage (for 1 wash + 2 rinses) at High-level
= (6 + 1) X 3 = 21 gal of water.

Prevoiusly due to slightly poor low-level rinse, an extra rinse is added.
So the water usage (for 1 wash + 3 rinses) at Low-level
= (4.5 +1) X 4 = 22 gal of water.
