I have been adding about 4 or 5 gallons of water to the wash cycle on my Frigidaire, and it seems to be improving the cleaning. I use a gallon pitcher and pour the water in through the detergent drawer.

The washer is close to the kitchen sink, but I would like to find a way of hooking up a hose to the sink instead of using the gallon pitcher.

Something like this, but they never seem to stay on the faucet much. I also thought about an old hose from a portable dishwasher might be better.

My laundry tub has a kitchen faucet on it, with sprayer. The sprayer hose isn't quite long enough to reach the detergent drawer.

Martin, thanks for your post. I'm going to look for a longer sprayer hose.

Meanwhile I'm using an old 100-oz detergent bottle and depending on the load, am dumping as many as four full bottles of water into the machine. That's until I get the balloon trick rigged up!

before I added the balloon trick to mine, I have an 8 foot kitchen sprayer added to the bathroom shower, with that on/off control this is great for washing the dog, the kids, trash cans and adding water to the machine via the detergent port....

did this with parts from Lowes for under $20.00 bucks

How about...

It's what I use. Holds a decent amount of water and pours precisely.

for some reason I only find this at Kmart, but, in their plumbing section, shower heads, theres a kit to use for the shower that has a 6 foot hose and the same sprayer as your kitchen sink...about $19.99....

NOW...open the package, take the hose/sprayer portion out, throw everything else away.....cut off the end that attaches to the shower head............NEXT.....pull your sprayer out of your sink port, unscrew the sprayer, pop off the little "c" clip, and remove the threaded portion....drop the hose thru the port under the sink, feed the new hose into the port, now from under the sink, slide the end you cut off over the plastic end of your current sprayer hose, use a clamp and tighten, you may want to cable tie the original hose in a loop, you will have a lot of hose under there....now turn on the water and check for leaks and so the hose does not get stuck on anything....if done correctly you should be able to pull almost 6 feet of hose with a sprayer to reach almost anything......save your parts from the old sprayer in case you want to put it back the old way, use a ziplock bag and fasten under the sink somewhere, won't get lost that way

got it...or are you confused?

Thanks Martin, I'm a little confused, but it's because I'm doped up on cold meds, but I'm sure when I read it tomorrow it will all make sense.

What I would really like to do is to go back to using my Maytag 806, and either sell or give away the Frigidaire front loader.

I guess there is such thing as too much.

I added too much to a load of blankets today and and it started flashing E30, and drained all the water. I did find a bigger bucket, which holds (guessing) 2 or 2 1/2 gallons of water, so I'm it for now until I can get the stuff to lengthen my sprayer hose.

WHAT YOU CAN DO IS..........................................

Ditch the stingy water using front loader, and buy a REAL WASHING MACHINE.......A SPEED QUEEN TOP LOADER.....LOL, I NEVER HAVE TO AD WATER TO MY MACHINE!

I think I'm just just going to switch back to my Maytag 806 sometime in the next week or so after I've recovered from my cold.

Experience with water levels

I had 3 LG washers, all used so little water for my tastes. When trying to wash anything like pillows, blankets, or a queen size comfortor, I had to add water to the detergent drawer.

I did fiddle with the pressure switch to get it to add more water, but the programming and design limitations would allow you to pull the door open if it was half way full of water. Definately not good :)

I wish manufacturers would allow for a manual fill option to add in additional water per the user's needs on what they are washing. Think of it like the hand faucet option on a Whirlpool top loader, but only for a front loader. You can see in my new Miele, water levels are never an issue. Check out the delicates cycle washing a blanket.

Unless I'm CRAZY, I swear it locks......I've tried to open it before when the machine is on and it doesn't want to open. I didn't want to pull to hard to damage something so maybe I'm crazy, but I swear it locks on mine. The model is GHW9300 Duet. I really don't need to add more water though, but still see people saying they add water through the dispenser and it made me wonder why mine locked.
