Well the time finally came, my lovely AEG Lavatherm dryer did its last load yesterday and gave up heating up. I suspect the element has failed and they are obsolete now. I 've decided to put it on ebay because someone out there may want it for parts or happen to have an element knocking about to restore it to good use.

No idea what I'm going to replace it with yet. I'll wait for the snow to go anyway before venturing out for a look around.

Is it worthy of your time

to see if the thermostat needs resetting?
Quite often you can repair these heaters by joining the coils it may get you through the winter :o)

Sorry to hear of your loss. Over here, we can buy the open coil heating elements and restring through the insulators in the frame and keep old dryers going. All you have to know is the wattage of the original.
