Hi there,

I didn't think I would be needing to come back here after my tumble drier recently had problems and thanks to people here meant that yet again there was stil life in the old thing yet.

Onward!

I own a top loading AEG L7026TLE1 in a flat for rentals. It's a small machine but it does a decent job for what it needs to do. I was listening to the spin cycle on it when doing some work in the flat and noticed that there were some strange noises coming from it. You could hear the normal sound of the machine when it was spinning - that clea electric sound- but overlayed was this kind of sound that was like a kind of gravelly sounds. It sounded as though where it was spinning there was small stones around the rotation. In fact when I put my hand on top of the machine when it is spinning it feels as though there is friction happening in it.

I popped it open, which is in fact prettty easy, for a change, and it all looked pretty okay. Nothing immediately looking bad.

What could this be? Unfortunately I could not find a reference to a manual online only in russian and other non english languages.

I did wonder whether this might be the thing to replace:

I did two videos, which I put on my dropbox and which can be viewed:

1) shows the machine with the side off:

2) shows a spin cycle, you can hear the noise clearly.

Wondering if anyone can point me to the place I should be looking.

Cheers.

If you slip the belt off

And spin the drum pulley can you hear the sound more clearly?

Youtube has a couple of videos.
A quick google of "aeg toplader bearing" brought some up.

It looks to be a fun project.

changjng bearings

Thanks all.

Is this a simple operation? There is a big concrete weight attached to the drum and i wonder if it is necessary to remove it when changing bearings.
Thanks again.

WOW he made that

Look soooooooo easy !

Will this be as simple in reality? Will your bearing be rusted in position ??

Do let us know if this went as well as it looked in the video.

Good luck with it all :)

the machine in the video doesn't seem an aeg electrolux (sure is not a real aeg machine) bearings seem more suitable for toy cars. I wonder how much they can last! I am so sad about the fact the glorious Aeg who made some of the finest washers ended as a simple brand for electrolux machines.

The aeg bearing holder in green

requires an odd tool to remove or you need to be creative using other tools in order to spin it off.

I agree that its so sad that AEG in the past made magnificent appliances.
I wonder if the engineers moved to Miele?
