Today my 13 month-old Fisher & Paykel Aero-not-so-Smart Top-loading dryer has chosen to not supply heated air, no matter which cycle is selected. I may have jinxed it from day one, by being skeptical that such a complex machine could be trouble-free. However, I did know up front that this machine has a maintenance intensive history comparted to other dryers. It's just that I loved it beacuse it is so convenient and easy to use.

I'm unable to schedule a repair appointment until Monday. After that, I'll share my experiences getting it fixed.

Resolution

I'm happy to say, that this one was a simple fix, and probably my fault.
There is a thermostat that senses overheating due to restricted air flow, and it trips a circuit interrupter. It was easily reset, but I was informed that the F&P has a high velocity air flow system. It seems my 20ft. vertical vent may has some restrition issues, the roof cap being a critical area. At any rate, I'll have it cleaned and go from there.

My S.O. and I bought a Lint Eater dryer vent cleaning kit. It has a rotary brush and extensions, and also a vacuum adapter that you attach to your vent on the inside. He climbed up on the roof, (well, he IS younger!) popped the vent cap and did the chimney sweep thing. Some much lint was loosened, that it filled the vacuum dirt receptacle below. An unbelievable amount had built up since our house had been built 13 years ago. Of course, we are only responsible for about 5 years of the buildup. Anyway, it will now become a yearly project.
