I was made aware of this set just over 3 months ago as Gordon (KenmoreGuy64) mentioned he had a line on this set during a conversation. "YES I WANT THEM" I said! He made the arrangements and then it was just a matter of timing for all parties involved. Gordon flew to Phoenix for a business trip, but also met me there and we visited the Appliance "junkyard" together (I will post another thread about it).

So here they are: My top of the line, 1968 Whirlpool Mark XII pair in Avocado green with the (tacky?) wood paneling!!

Something I have NEVER seen on any dryer.... a two way door! It will swing open OR pull down (like other dryer doors)!!!

I have to take the door apart as the latch assembly currently only allows it to swing open as you see here.

The dryer speed control does not affect tumble speed. Set on Gentle, the airflow rate is decreased and the element (or gas burner) switches to a lower heat output.

Multiple tumble speeds (three) was a short-lived feature added a little later.

1. Can't help but notice the Kitchenaid dishwasher in back of the washing machine. What is it? What's the story on it?

2. Who is the handsome unmarried man holding up the lint filter cover on the dryer?

That is some cool stuff. I've never seen a set with paneling on it before. The other old Whirlpool BD on here right now doesn't necessarily betray its age the way these do. Groovy. Really happenin' in a far out way...

Kevin -

I had a great time on the trip! Those are great machines and I hope you enjoy them. You've got one green sea of Whirlpool/Kenmores right now (with the Lady K pair, etc)!

ENJOY them all in good health my friend.

Gordon

So nice!

I love the avocado and woodgrain combination! Carol Brady herself would've scratched your eyes out for them... What an amazing find - worth the wait I am sure! Congrats!!!!

now that's a control panel!

love the controls, love the lite, love the wood panels!

that set is beyond awesome!!!

Very cool! Congrats!

But will the machine let you use high agitate/high spin on the Gentle cycle to effectively give you a short cycle?

JEALOUS!

Beautiful Set!!!I love it! It couldn't have fallen into better hands...When are you going to start playing with them? Can't wait to see them in action!!! Love Surgilators!

Okay - that is a sweet set. Congrats! One thing I wonder is if this set was available in any color other than avocado. Certainly the color makes the statement, but white would also be nice.

Love the blue Surgilator w/ chrome cap. Cat's meow!

Didn't Jamie have a sister to this washer a year or two ago?

I love this set, they look to be in excellent condition and very well cared for.
Are you sure those left the factory with that wood on it? It looks to me for some reason like someone added that later. Going against popular opinion, I think the wood looks tacky. I think the set would look much better without it.
