Hey guys,

I was wondering if I could get some advise on the following: I have Maytag N2LP with turquoise agitator, last couple of time that used the machine the agitator is starting to come off the main post during the wash. Is there a temporary/solution to fix or those this means I have find a replacement agitator.

thank you in advance for your advise.

Rene

Rene,

I sure miss my old Maytag. I forget if it is an allen bolt, or a screw on the side of the lower agitator which secures it to the shaft. Have you tried tightening it?

I have 2 of the the same machines and I believe the stop ring has worn out on yours. It is on the shaft the agitator slides over and keeps the agitator from floating.
There is a seller on e-bay cayuga2 that sells many parts for Maytag wringers.

On e-bay search type in Maytag Wringer Washer A4298 Seal for Agitator Shaft Package & Instructions
the part I believe you need is labeled stop ring. He may sell them separately.

I have one machine the agitator is stuck and one that floats when it stops agitating.
I prefer float rather than stuck.

hope the link works

^^^  What Tinkr said.  If the "stop ring"  does not correct the problem.  There were wringer agitators on E bay.  Most people pull the agitator off the post at the end of the day and rinse everything down.  If your machine has a pump there should be a lint/ button strainer under the agitator that needs to be cleaned. If I am correct I believe the strainer is more about protecting the pump than filtering the wash water.  A
