Air Dry or Heated Dry

Which one do you use?

Air dry.

Dont want any leftover food yibbles and bits baked on.

Besides in so many of my residences(rental apts) the wiring was woefully inadequate. Could only run so many A/Cs and appliances at one time. Wasting 30 minutes with the DW heating the load meant not doing something else with that electricity.

In theory in the winter I have no problem running a heated dry for the added warmth it provides.

air dry, the rinse temp goes to 160F, so they dry fast. When the clean light button is on, I open the door and let the steam out.

In my opinion, a dishwasher is supposed to wash and DRY the dishes.

Years ago, it was stated that you could save lots of energy by skipping the dry cycle. What savings did it really amount to? One dollar per month if that?

The only reason I use the air dry is because heat dry lets out this weird smell. I don't know what it is, but if I am at someone else's house I can smell it to. I know that I'm probably the only person this happens to.

Usually non-heat

I do wash with a sani-rinse so the hot dishes flash dry pretty quick.
If there is sickness in the house I will sanatize and heat dry.

I don't have a heated rinse option, but I use the heated wash. Lately have have been using the heated dry, so that I can get them unloaded and put away quicker.

I never use heated dry

After the last drain, open the door just an inch or two, pull the top rack out a bit to hold the door open. The draft caused by the heat escaping will dry the dishes in no time.

You'll have to wipe the bases of the glasses that hold water, but at least the bottoms of the glasses won't have baked on crud.

We use sanitize and heated dry most of the time.
We dont' turn on the dishwasher until we go to bed. We use the Sanitize option because we have dog food bowls along with our bowls in the DW. We use heated dry as we are already fast asleep when that part of the cycle completes.

If we are awake, sometimes we'll just open the door and let the dishes air dry pretyy quickly. But we have to watch for any dogs going in there and "cleaning" the clean dishes. Heated dry doesn't allow them to do this.

Plastic bowls and glasses seem to take forever to dry with air dry.

Final rinse is 65 or 75degC.

Fan exchanges hot moist air with room temp air.

All items come out dry in 30 mins.

No additional heat required.

The heated drying cycle is woefull on this dishwasher...so open the door for a few minutes and then let it sit ajar...20min and they're done

We feed the machine 140F water and load glassware tilted to one side, so dishes are dry immediately after the final rinse. If "neither" is a choice, that's what we do. The only delay is waiting a few minutes until the dishes are cool enough to handle.

Heated dry, particularly after I got the Kenmore Elite May 2007. It's rare on this machine I select no heat dry.

I've never used heated dry on the dishwasher.. I think I did use it on my old Maytag a couple of times, but just air, or in the winter, I just open the door.
