Worst part for people like me working in a Pharmacy, is you have ill patients handing you a prescription just after they "coughed" into it!....not easy to get away to the sink everytime, just keep a bottle of sanitizer next to you to use in between, also good to use on door handles and surfaces for a little extra measure...

Squat Toilets . . .

I found the following instructions on how to use a squat toilet in a stall in a rural area of northern Japan. Most Japanese public toilets I've seen are the conventional type, but it isn't rare to encounter squat toilets here and there. Some are even quite modern, with automatic flush. I've been told that some people prefer them as one doesn't have to sit on a toilet seat that has been sat upon by others. I'd prefer to take my chances with using one of those little paper seat covers, or just using some plain toilet paper, but I can see the point.

It is very, very rare to encounter a public restroom in Japan with paper towels; they almost universally use air dryers or will have nothing to dry your hands with as many Japanese carry a small hankerchief for this reason. The air dryers are usually similar to the Dysons pictured above and are pretty efficient, but I still like paper towels myself.

I don't particularly care for the way air dryers make your shirt wet. After I use them, I always end up wiping my hands on my shirt!
