Air dryers vs. paper towels

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I like paper towels because they dry your hands much faster. Air dryers are probably a little easier on the environment even though they use electricity.

Paper towels..SO you can open the door, because the last didnt wash his hands and now you have his grems on your hands..You dont know where his man tool hasbeen

Paper Towels......i hate waiting for those weak blowers to do nothing.....a few have those HIGH powered ones, and their nice!

but like they said using the towel to turn off the water and open the door.....

Germs are everywhere though, if not on the door handle, the MONEY you get back as change is also filthy, and when they lick their finger to seperate the bills, or to get those plastic bags open to load yor merchandise, I don't know where his TONGUE has been either!!!

i have used the Dyson Airblade, they have them now at my university. I can say they dry hands very quick and very well, before i was a paper towel type of guy. Not that many restrooms even give you that option nowadays. The only downside to the Airblade is they are darn noisy lol, but i guess its better being done properly than quietly.

Generally prefer paper towels, but really like the new super hand dryers such as the Excel Xlerator or American Dryer Extremeair. Have used both and they work very well. Both of them also are made in USA. Would like one for my new downstairs bathroom, but they are quite expensive, being over $400. What I don't care much for are those "touchless" towel dispensers. Seems like half the time they don't work.

First of all, I applaud any establishment that has both in their restrooms. It gives you an option.

With that said, I prefer paper towels. And yes, circlew, I dislike those touchless paper towel dispensers too. If I have to use the crank type, I get as much of the paper towel I'll need, wash my hands, and then use the serrated end to tear it off and wipe my hands dry.

AirBlade admirer here...

...big surprise!

For anyone who hasn't seen one, here's a quick clip of me demonstrating one at the Dyson Press Office at the Air Multiplier launch last month.

My hands weren't wet, but it seemed like a good opportunity to get one on camera, because I imagine that filming in public restrooms is generally frowned upon!

I prefer paper towels most of the time. If it comes down to the dryer vs. the touchless towel dispenser, I'll take the dryer. Those dispensers are a pain in the ass!!!!!!

I used a Dyson airblade for the first time in October when we went to Blackpool!

Stopped off at some motorway services for a cuppa and a loo break and they had them in the toilets. I was very impressed with them as the normal hot air hand dryers take forever and usually time out before your hands are properly dry. Also the airblade seemed to get my whole hands dry and not leave any wet patches. If there is the option of paper towels I do prefer to use them but not many places have that option anymore. Saying that if there was an option between towels or the dyson I would choose the dyson

I prefer paper towels

Of course everything which isn't made of brass is going to be filthy, but nobody is going to get me to believe that there is no value in avoiding the smear infectious properties of a plastic or steel door handle when I just saw the red-nex nunmuts walk out of the stall and right past the sink.
Ick.
What puzzles me is the number of me who only wash their hands after they use the facilities. Surely, you'd want to wash your hands before and after? As Yogitunes mentioned, there is ick all over the place, and much ick is just plain dirt and grease.

Some of us do wash our hands before and after :-| *points to self*

Then we sanitise our hands after we AirBlade them... :-|

And we refuse to touch door handles...

Defective beyond repair.

te he he he .

I see countless men who refuse to wash their hands after tinkling.

I dropped a live-in partner who went from a sit-down moment to the refrigerator without so much as a drop of water touching the hands.

I think spitting on the toilet paper to enhance its cleaning ability made it even worse.

Worse was the staunch justification of the piggishness. "What's the problem it's all on the paper?"

"It's not my job to make you a civilized human-being and to make up for what yo' momma lacked in training you"

You are the weakest link. Goodbye!
*UGH*

So then, has anyone here ever seen or even used public facil

...with squat toilets? Don't know if they are still common in southern Europe, but when I was just a bairn they were. I travelled much as a child and used many road houses - the things I saw are still vividly etched into my memory. Of course they are the norm throughout much of Asia, the Middle East and don't necessarily have toilet paper, let alone hand dryers or paper towels either. If one is lucky they might have a rubber hose or a small pail with a scoop that is used to flush away and clean one's self.

Now, as far as public facilities go, I like to touch as little as possible. Everything should be automatic, from the doors to the taps and flushing mechanisms on toilets. I am not a germophobe, though I draw the line with public facilities. I, too, prefer paper towels for reasons already stated by others here.

i used a squat toilet in the airport at Bali. Just out of sheer curiosity and boredom (flight delay). I almost fell down the f*****g thing and the way your supposed to clean urself is ludicrous. I waited for an empty restroom and ran to the next stall which had normal toilets.
Never again
lol

'I almost fell down the f*****g thing '

Was that one level with the ground or slightly raised? I find the former easier to use, I am too tall for the other. It certainly can be a balancing act and one has to be mindful not to pull one's pants all the way down.

Anatomically, squat toilets are supposed to be better, as one assumes a more natural position. When travelling I always carry sanitary wipes and, in combination with running water, the result is quite satisfactory.
