Frigidaire Custom Imperial

Ok guys. Before I get way to serious about this stove, a few questions:

How hard will it be to get replacement parts; like heating elements? Do they just pull out (like the GE) or are they more complicated?

Are there users' manuals out there?

Ref: the back well, can you use the container (pot) to deep fry?

I assume the ovens aren't self-cleaning, so.....who's going to keep me supplied with EZ OFF?

I will post again if another question pops into my head.

Poor baby! Neglected and now not working!

I think we had an old Frigidaire when my parents bought our house in 1956 (I was oh so young to remember). Dad called all refrigerators "Frigidaires"; kind of like the way people call tissue "Kleenex". Even when we got our Gibson, it was still referred to as the "Frigidaire".

Believe Buda is in the Austin area (about two hours away). Too bad it's not the Custom Imperial Stove! Toledo is way farther than Austin! LOL

My High school French teacher, Mme. Fulford, who is from France told me that. She also told me a story about the time her sister came to visit from Paris. Mme. Fulford and her husband had just moved into a brand new house with a Frigidiaire all electric kitchen. One day as they were clearing the dishes after lunch Madame Fulfords sister asked her where she kept the butter. MMe. Fulford said, "Put it in the Frigidiaire." Well in France like Britan, under the counter fridges are the most popular because most of the french kitchens, like brittish kitchens, are so small. So her sister looks around and sees the name Frigidaire on an appliance sticking out from under the counter and puts the butter in there. Later while making dinner, Mme. Fulford went to get the butter but couldn't find it. When she asked her sister where she put it her sister pointed to Mme. Fulfords dishwasher and said. "I put it in the Frigidaire of course." Mme. Fulford said after she stopped laughing she had to explain that here in America Frigidiare was a brand name of appliance. She said her sister could not understand why a company would call their dishwasher a refigarator. So much for the subtleties of the English language. PAT COFFEY

Say YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG - I am entering the realm of vintage appliances. I just won the Frigidaire Custom Imperial Stove!! I had a couple of people try to snipe me at the last minute (hopefully, they weren't shill bids) but I had set my price on my first bid and got it for under my limit!!

I'm so excited! This will be fun. Greg, I am really going to need your help, advice, and oven cleaner!

Thanks guys! Got the dishwasher taken care of; a new black Bosch (hopefully delivered next week). That's why the stove was so awesome! There used to be a Flair range in the gap between the cabinets, so the fact that it was gorgeous, vintage, 40" wide, and black, was more than just a little divine intervention!

With the shipping costs, etc. I may have to stick wheels on that baby and haul the family to Omaha in June! LOL

Rocky2: Yes, I am what they call a "sniper". I'm like a shark. You never know when I'll take a bite out of your bid. Bad - yes, but it gets the job done.

I love the Flair ranges. Like I mentioned earlier, we were told that this house came with a Flair. It was eventually replaced (in 1994, I think) with a Whirlpool 40" stove. Would have considered a Flair if it was chrome and black. I hope you are enjoying yours. Please post pics so that we can see it in all its beauty!

Congratulation on acquiring that wonderful range. I really like the charcoal. And for me as a European, a 40 inch range looks really American. Hope to see some pictures of your kitchen when it founds it's place.
