It started Sunday when we returned from the beach. It was 64 degrees in the house, too cool for me to sit and work on the computer, so on it went set at 68 degrees to take the chill off. The past 2 nights have been upper 40 to lower 50's. Have had to turn it on the past 2 mornings also. This is the earliest I can remember turning it on, usually the 1st week of Oct. Hope this is not expectations of last year. Just had the a/c on Thursday. Guess no break for a month between a/c and heat.

Can't remember what day it was last week, Weds morning I think. It was very warm and very humid Tuesday right up till about 2 a.m. Weds and we had the air on, then it just crashed after that. We hardly used the air all summer, maybe 10 times if that.

I have not needed the heat except in the bathroom when I take my shower, YET, but Saturday, the 13th, was the first day in many months that the air conditioners were off all day. We have cooled down to the point where the downstairs unit gets turned off when I go up to bed. AccuWeather said that shots of cold air from the good old Polar Vortex would hasten our cooldown this fall and I guess that is what's happening. No matter what else happens, we will get a frost before the end of October. Some years we have weeks of mild weather after that and other years, it gets cold and stays cold.

AC running here

OMG! It's refreshing to read posts about it being cool and turning on the furnace. We are in the middle of a heat wave in So Cal. Its been up around 100 degrees during the day and was 83 degrees at 9 p.m. last night.

I live a few miles from the ocean so it is rare that temperatures rise above the mid 80's. I'm looking forward to some cool weather!!

Plenty of heat here . . .

How I would love to send a little heat to anyone else, anywhere! It has hit 108 the last two days under my patio cover, plus some humidity, ugh! Today is supposed to be another nasty one but then cooler Wednesday, hopefully this will be the last serious heat wave for the year.

No heat here for a while. House has stayed I the 60's so I'm fine. I'm hoping to hold out until mid to late October, don't mind getting up to temps in the lows 50's inside, with solar gain the house warms up nicely during the day once the leaves are all off the trees.

I think it's too soon to, myself...!

Aaarrrrgfh! Wife wants the heat on, so it be! Still used to wearing short sleeves, though...

But it's at night when I get cold & want the furnace on... So I picked out a warm, long sleeved PJ's to wear tonight...

Then again, why not have a fireplace fire?! <span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body"><span class="UFICommentBody" data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body.0"><span data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body.0.$end:0:$0:0">Maybe</span></span></span><span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body"><span class="UFICommentBody" data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body.0"><span data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body.0.$end:0:$0:0"> tonight,</span></span></span><span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body"><span class="UFICommentBody" data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body.0"><span data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body.0.$end:0:$0:0"> I</span></span></span><span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body"><span class="UFICommentBody" data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body.0"><span data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body.0.$end:0:$0:0">'ll</span></span></span><span data-ft="{"tn":"K"}" data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body"><span class="UFICommentBody" data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body.0"><span data-reactid=".a.1:3:1:$comment10152690099386125_10152690746181125:0.0.$right.0.$left.0.0.1:$comment-body.0.$end:0:$0:0"> do...!</span></span></span>

Turned on the Eden Pure

In the living room Saturday for a bit to take the chill off.

Weather predictions this winter are for Bitter temps with Apocalyptic snow fall.

I think I'll keep the Jeep 4x4 for a little while longer.

Bitter temps with Apocalyptic snow fall

Harley I have heard this several times on news programs and internet sites.
Snow issues as far down south as Texas and Louisiana.
Will be interesting to see how it all pans out.
I for one love Fall and Winter. My favorite time of the year!!!

Apocalyptic and Snowmageddon

Sounds like The Weather Channel to me.... The commercialization of weather, joy. Anything to try to one up everyone else making up names to glorify the weather.

I'm hoping to not turn the heat on until October. I like the house a little cool to sleep and I'm not home during the day. My pooch would rather it be cool as well. He really hates the hot & humid weather.

I just ordered propane about five minutes ago. When I filled the tank in February this year, it was $3.23/gal. The price right now is $1.59!! This fill should get me to Feb again (unless we get the bitter cold they're calling for).

Sounds like The Weather Channel to me.

Never watch Weather channel. Just a bunch of crazies that chase tornados to me. I live in Kansas, you hide from those thing.

I actually read the apocalyptic prediction from "Farmer's Almanac".

As for Winter--HATE it. I am not a cold person.

Will have not run the A/C for a week tomorrow. Had the heat on Friday, Saturday and turned it off Sunday and then back on briefly today. Will probably be back to A/C by end of week.

Only about 60F here today, and mostly cloudy. Have not turned on heat yet, but have baked in the oven a couple times to help warm things up.

It's expected to get back up around 80 by Sat., which is good since I'm planning to go to my H.S. reunion that evening. It's supposed to be a cookout, so hope weather is nice.

I'm hoping it won't get very cold until at least the middle of Nov. I've GOT to get my insulation in before winter arrives.

Still have the AC on. But it only runs a couple of times a day briefly. Won't be much longer before I switch it off for the season. Probably around the first of the month. Than we'll see what happens with the temps.

Considering that we had such a mild summer this year I'm afraid to think what's going to happen this winter. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if we get nailed with a couple of good snow storms. Certainly don't want it. But you can't control the weather. OH WELL!

Just wrap up and try to stay warm!

Ditto on the heat running here in MA. Plus I have my elderly mom with me and she really likes it in the mid 70's. It's gonna be a long winter. I upgraded my system and windows 10 years ago and that has helped tremendously.

I keep my house a crisp 60 degrees in the winter, I do have a heated floor in the bathroom, use an electric mattress pad and I have ventless gas fire place in the basement bar area I use when watching tv or having people over. I love the colder temps, but not too cold below 30 is little too much.

Bah Humbug!  That bitter air can stay the hell away from here.  I despise having to wear long pants and bundlesome clothing.  The only thing I like about winter is Christmas!  My best friend can't wait for the cold air to arrive, he says I need to move to shady acres!

It's been cool here a few mornings 40s/50s ...I'm more of an AC abuser but I made up for keeping the heat much lower than most people do in the winter ..I keep my ac on 71, so it runs a lot, even if it's not very hot. Not a lot of big trees in my subdivision. In the winter, I keep my heat on 65 and use electric blanket. For some reason, For me, I'm more comfortable if I'm too cold than if I'm too hot.

Turned on the heat huh? It was 109/110 on Monday. A few degrees cooler today due to the swamp-like humidity from some storm swirling around off the Baja Coast. September is the last month of "reasonable" Summer rates from the power company. The heat is getting worse here every year. The phrase "it's a dry heat" no longer applies. Be grateful if you're experiencing an early "cool spell."
