Sorry if this has been discussed before. Picked up a bottle of All Small and Mighty Free and Clear 3x Liquid on sale at Safeway. Ran a load of bath towels with it. A bit more sudsing than I expected, using lowest measured dose (1/2 cap). But the results seemed to be acceptable enough. Did an air fluff/line dry/air fluff.

Anybody else have any experience with this product?

I have been getting good results with the ALL 3x products. I've used all flavors, and just picked up a bottle of the new purple one. ALL 3x does not have enzymes, so adding some booster will help.

Wisk 3x has the enzymes and I think it works better... However, it appears that Lever has discontinued Wisk 3x in favor of Wisk 2x. I find that wierd because the ALL website is bragging on the environmental savings they have done with the 3x products.

I've had good results with All 3X. I am just about done with my bottle of it. I like the manageable size, since when pouring into the drawer of the Duet with a large container, one can end up with detergent in the fabric softener dispenser if not careful. I don't always use the cap to measure, as it's easy enough to eyeball it. Sudsing is very low. I only noticed more sudsy conditions once, and I think that had more to do with what was being washed. Long story but I think that load had a couple of items in it that were washed previously in a top loader that did a lousy job of rinsing.

When out at the store last weekend my partner wanted Tide but it was 1) way too expensive and 2) there was no he type except with bleach and he didn't want that. So I advised the All 3X was once again a good deal, $3 cheaper than Tide, but he said the problem he has with the 3X container is that you can grab it either way since it has no handle on it, and you can end up with the pouring spout backwards. Not a big deal to me, but he's so pro-Tide that he had to make an excuse. So we ended up with All 2X at the same price as 3X, because that container has a handle on it. Sheesh!

I did have my first-ever sighting of powdered he detergent at that same store but again, it was Tide and super expensive. I'm interested in trying my Duet's soak & wash cycle, which requires powder due to the design of the detergent dispenser. When the Tide is on sale I'll grab a box.

None of the ALL products seem to contain enzymes, and I'm sort of wondering why that is.

I can't say for sure, but my impression, particularly from seeing the early ads posted here in the site, is that All has since the start stressed that it was the detergent for all washing machines and for all one's clothes and that it was safe for all fabrics, so not having enzymes would make it possible to use it for stuff like silk, wool and other delicates. As a matter of fact, not many detergents nowadays can be used with wool/silk because of the enzymes, and it's one of the reasons I have some All HE on hand (our normal laundry is very dirty/stained and requires detergents with enzymes) to clean such fabrics.

Ralph, what was the price on Tide HE powder? Up here in Portland the 63 load box at Target is priced around $12.99. I'm pretty sure I've seen the stuff at Target in either Hayward or San Leandro (maybe it was Fremont?) so you might find it there for less than at a grocery store.

I've got a KitchenAid Ensemble and use the Autosoak option frequently. You're correct in that the dispensers do require powder detergent for the main wash if Autosoak is used, but you could also see how much time the presoak adds and then set a timer so you can add regular detergent when the main wash begins. It's definitely more of a hassle, but at least you can play with the presoak function without having to wait until you can find a reasonably priced HE powder.

Have fun!

Thanks David. I'm not absolutely sure but I believe it was 32 loads' worth of powder for $8.99. I'll keep an eye out for a sale on it and then pick up a box. I've read here that many people feel powders do a better job in FL machines than liquids do, so I'm curious to find out for myself even without using the auto-soak function.
