Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Philco......

Hey Guys

All the Uk Bendix machines above were indeed made in Italy by Philco - They were fantastic machines, super quiet induction motors, large capacity(for their time) and fantastic results.

There was an early 80s ad that illustrated how quiet they were by showing a baby sleeping sat next to a Bendix on spin LOL!!

Re: Philco

Guess the machine could be philco after all... were they realeased around here? Well, i know about the drier my uncle had, it had two knobs... one for heat and one for time. The timer was really a timer, you started the machine by selecting a heat. Bendix drier seems to have the same controls...

One of the reasons I love the Bendix 7147 so much is because it was my mums first automatic washer. Also my aunt bought the 7147 around the same time as my mum. My mums however only lasted 4 years due to me!I would switch the spin from 800 to 400 so I could then put it back on 800 and watch it speed it up again. This put a lot of stress on the drum pulley as it wouldn't slow down to 400 gradually, it would jump straight to 400 from 800.In the end all but one spoke on the pulley had broken.Instead of getting it repaired my parents chucked it!!!! My aunts however went on and on and when they moved to spain they gave it to my cousin. It was still in use up to a couple of years ago when she moved.I dont know what happened to it as im not sure if it broke or if she left it at her old house.

Hoovermatic I think I know which Bendix you mean.I don't know the model number but my best friend had one in the house he moved into in the 1980s. It was just called the Bendix Autowasher rather than de luxe and it just had one dial which was round and black I think.Still had the square door.It went with them to the next house that they moved to in 1987 but then it wasen't there long. Dont know what happened to it but a Hotpoint appeared. Electronic 1000 de luxe. Didn't have a patch on the Bendix.

Heres the pic of the 7147 and 7447 stacked.

Your right, it was called Bendix Autowasher. I remember the day it was bought from Rumbelows in Bristol. It was only a small store and they had just TWO FL's on display; a Candy and the Bendix and the Bendix won hands down as it looked and felt so sturdy. Even the door was metal as opposed to plastic. I don't think they look out of place in the 21st century. Bring 'em back please!!!

Here's another pic which might be of interest. This dates from 83 showing the classic Hoover Electron which had not long been released. This replaced the A3110 (correct me if I am wrong).

That Electron is the A3294, which was an Electricity Board exclusive based upon the A3268 (I think!) - hence the 'E'. The A3268 replaced the A3190 from the very first electron series, which in turn replaced the A3110 (any errors in this timeline - please correct them).
Hoover were very busy in the early 80's.

Heres another square door and she is a cutie.....

help with a hoover

Not my piccy (come on own up), but one I saved from one of the yahoo groups.

Mark - you posting the cover of the 7142A instruction manual jogged my memory that this was a problem of mine.

Anyone have any idea what the hoover machine is in the bottom right (the model number and description hidden by the A3256 electron 800 dual spin manual).
Is it the A2044 cold fill machine? Anyone able to confirm?

There ALL Fantastic!!

But OMG!! FORALOYSIUS, the Miele 420, my favorite brand no less, is absolutely STUNNING!! I would definitely sell my husband and (almost my dog) for that machine! ;) I've never seen a full size like that by Miele.

I now have a new 'dream machine' to add to the TOP of my ever growing list. Unfortunately, this one I think really will remain just a dream. But thanks for sharing it. Oh man, just wonderful!! Thanks again!!--James

Miele 420

Does anyone read German?? I would love to know what the ad says about the 420. Could someone translate it for me/us? Many thanks!-- James
And maybe the Miele 505 too?? or is that asking too much? ;)

Sorry, I'm just a bit giddy in love with the 420 at the moment! Just lovely!!
