It is correct that enzymes die when the temperature is higher than 60° but the bleach is still active and that is the point and also the reason why you only want to wash whites at high temperatures.

Between 100F and 120F

Used to be the magic numbers, but with so many various frankenzymes created these days that may no longer apply.

For instance there are cold water detergents loaded with enzymes designed to work best in 85F water, and performance actually degrades above 100F.

Then there are detergents who promise complete and total cleaning power from cold up to 95C.

@ favorit - interesting. There are also some videos uploaded on Youtube of the Constructa boilwash. Look at the vintage amount of detergent!

Yes it is right that enzymes dies at high temperature but with a cold fill washer with long phases at lower temperature the enzymes have already done what they should do. And than at high temperature the oxygen bleach contaied in the detergent whitenes the whites.

I think that enzymes alone are not enough for whitening. Yes they are great at stain removing but not much for whitening. I've tried the Japanese detergent "Attack" which is known as one of the best detergent with some "mega-performing hi-tech" enzymes in a lukewarm wash and yes, the results was very good, nothing to say, but no sign of dazzlind whites!

Don't get me wrong I don't want to change your washing habits or your opinions. These are my opinions and my experiences with my washing habits.

I've tried the Japanese detergent "Attack"

So have I and really do like it.

BioZet 'Attack' has been in our market for at least 15years, possibly longer....has a very pleasant fragrance and rinses out well too...

One reason that you may find it doesn't give your whites any 'zing' is that there is no oxygen bleaching agent in it...so a small amount in with the wash will probably sort out that and remove/reduce the need for extreme high temperature washes...
