Hey all, audiophile question time.

I have a mixing board with 8 ohm speaker outputs. I currently run an 8 ohm Bose and 8 ohm Peavey (both passive) on each side in that order from the board (board into the Bose then another cable from the Bose to the Peavey). Could I go from the board to an 8 ohm then daisy chain a 4 ohm speaker off the 8 ohm speaker? One of my Peaveys is starting to buzz and they're on the old side so I'm considering replacing them since I don't know of a good repair shop nearby.

Thanks,

Chuck

if you parallel connect speakers to the output, the impedance(ohms) will be reduced and the potential load on the driving amp will be increased-amp may or may not mind the lower impedance, just try it and see-usually there is no ill effects-in my experience anyway, use to parallel connect speakers all the time when i didn't know any better :)

Now I'm confused. I tried looking up using lower ohm speakers and it said that if you connect them in a string (series or daisy chain vs. parallel) you add the impedance, and as long as the total was more than the amp was rated for you'd be likely not to have an issue. If you wire them parallel it reduces the impedance.

I haven't purchased any new speakers yet so I want to be sure before I do.
