An Amazing Find Right Out of the 1965 Wards Catalog!!

Nice set! Can't go wrong with a Norge.
3-speed Norge
No John, just 2 speed. that's the exact number of buttons (1-8) as our Norge, said Norge 15, and I bet the exact same programming of each cycle, all the way down to E being hot wash/cold rinse normal agitation/slow spin. That dryer has the modulating burner. the dryer cycle sequence/position was exactly like ours too. And IJKL are cycles that have the max of 12 or 14 minutes to add extra minutes to the programmed letter position on the timer dial. Bring back more good and bad memories of our Norge pair. Yes, Wards always had the scrubber cap. I'd like to see a close-up of the dryer panel so I can see what all the cycles/lettering is. Our stop&dry was a horizontal lever on control panel that corresponded to the water level slider on the washer. I had a love/hate relationship with this washer. cycles weren't like a Lady K. THAT was how you did laundry and cycle selections.

Robert, do they need anything at all like hoses or any thing that would be deteriorated after 51 years? Also, how were they kept, climate controlled I'd suppose in a very clean home without pets etc.? Just Curious.

Wow, that IS a very spectacular set! Amazing if you can get it to keep working fifty-more-years--although beware of the High Energy Bills & what the EPA is probably gonna think...
Then again, you will get twice as much wash all done... Incredible condition and the fact that these appliances were very-rarely-to-never-used...

Truly amazing that the dryer was never hooked up. Beautiful find, and the color is just wonderful.
Wow! Even the washer has that 'new-in-box' look. it's a beautiful set---and I love coppertone. Awesome scrubber cap on the agitator. Congratulations, Robert!
That little square lid is for the sprinkler.
We have a Wards Her Majesty dryer with the Norge version of Soft Heat. It did not continuously modulate down, but ran on high until the exhaust temperature reached a certain point then finished drying on the lower BTU input. It has auto dry like this one. Norge did not offer auto dry until after Wards had it for a while, sort of like the Kenmore self-cleaning filter in the washer years before WP was allowed to offer it.

Stop-n-Dry physically disengages the drum from the drive for non-tumble drying, just heated (or non-heated) airflow. Presumably there's an accessory rack for shoes and such?
I don't think I can add anything new...

There is a rectangular, spring-loaded rack. If the dryer drum is stopped so that two of the vanes are at 4 and 8 o'clock, the rack can be placed across them and shoes and stuffed animals can be placed on the rack to dry. If the drum is stopped with two vanes in the 10 and 2 o'clock position, the rack can be squeezed in from each end so that it will fit between the vanes and delicates like nylon hosiery can be drapped over the two bars to flutter in the hurricaine-like wind.

Even in my seriously biased opinion!
If my parents had bought a set a couple of years sooner and they had consoles like those, I'd likely have a more forgiving attitude with regard to Norge laundry products.
