I also picked up this TOL 30" Philco... a beautiful range, even if it does make my Kelvinator look totally pristine! So with a little elbow grease, I hope to post some updated pics soon!

we have twins! Awesome range

Just gotta love the burner lay out and the huge oven. Mine needs a new glass over the meat thermometer and to clean out the glass over the inop clock, and clean out the little windows over the multicolor temp indicators. Anyone know how to adjust (if possible) the thermostat on the oven? Mine runs about 50 degrees hotter than the setting. That and the burners only work every other setting.. so it does not really get any use, but it looks good..

Broil Under Glass Feature

Jamie, I will take a photo and post later... but basically, it is a glass panel that is underneath the top oven coils... I think the idea was that way your coils didn't get dirty and need to be cleaned around... but someone else have a better understanding!

Moparwash... I LOVE your 59 GE! I call them the Jetsons design, with the futuristic raised control panel it looks like what the Jetsons would have had!

Some of the broiler under glass ranges also allowed you to pull out the element to use as a 'Jiffy Griddle', this on my 40" Philco.

Funny that none of these ranges have the little flap-covered hole near the 8" element for the catalytic converter to plug into. We had one of these for a while in the collection and it had the little plug, but not the filter. It was a dome shaped device, maybe 10 inches in diameter attached to sort of a pole that went into the little hole in the cooktop & allowed use over pans of various heights. It functioned to eliminate odors from frying. I believe I also read that it could be swung around to cover the oven vent to remove odors from stuff in the oven, but can't think of anything that smelled that bad in the oven. This particular 30" range was the only one I saw advertised as having the filter.
