Trisodium Dicarboxymethyl Alaninate (MGDA-Na3) is primarily a chelating agent, and its role in formulations is to bind metal ions rather than directly influence sudsing behavior. However, it can indirectly affect sudsing by stabilizing the formulation and improving the performance of surfactants in cleaning products.

So I think the surfactants or combination of surfactants might be the main culprit.

They claim that there is dawn in these pacs, and that there is 2 times more so wouldn’t that be the huge contributing factor of sudsing? I’ll have to look at the ingredient list on my bottle of dawn and compare it to the tub of cascade I have and see what ingredients they have in common. It’s probably those shared surfactants that they also put in dawn that causes this sudsing.

New and improved

I am currently running a heavily soiled load of dishes with the Platinum Plus. Very little sudsing. I will try again on another load to see if this is a fluke, but largely improved over prior version.

johnb300m, I should have said it better. I think the ingredient “softens” water significantly that with excess allows for more sudsing.

And just for any of you here who are thinking it's foaming sudsing because the load isn't dirty enough or the person using it might have a water softener - I can tell you I have hard water, no softener at all and when I tried them YEARS ago, I could hear the dishwasher struggling.. this was with a PACKED load of dishes that were scraped, not rinsed... and yet to hear ppl talk they are glorious... I don't buy them, but instead Finish or Kirkland (which do NOT foam at all) and just add STPP

Oh... I forgot... How much STPP?

I eyeball it but I'd say 1/2 tablespoon... I just poor in with the pod what I think is around 1/2 tbs

Oh and... Trisodium Dicarboxymethyl Alaninate??

Does this mean they possibly found the missing link?

I hope so.

Yeah exactly it doesn’t matter if the load is real dirty or not but I’ve noticed that it doesn’t foam as much when the dishwasher is packed full cause as I said before there’s more jet streams that don’t hit any dishes when it’s emptier and due to that the jet streams forcefully splash back down on the standing water creating more suds hard to explain but I think y’all get it. And also too by the time the soap is released the dishes are fully rinsed off by the pre rinse cycle given if the cycle has a pre rinse. My Powerclean literally completely rinses all the dishes in the first minute or two but if I don’t use the HI TEMP scour option it won’t do a pre rinse on the normal cycle and it’ll have a gross food smell after the cycle is over from the nasty dishes I put in it

I bought a bottle of cascade rinse aid a month ago and it doesn’t work whatsoever, leaves all kinds of spots on every dish. Literally doesn’t work. So I will be getting my money back and I’ll go with finish products from now on I’ve given cascade the chance well enough to fix the problems they have bene having. And no, the spotting never happened before up until I bought this new bottle I never had spotting problems unless I was using the cascade gel.

dishwasher flood

I expect a dishwasher flood to happen with these so-called "new and improved" platinum plus with the power of bleach or any platinum for that matter. Dishwasher detergent should NEVER do that, EVER! Never. Shameful that they put dishwashing liquid in a dishwasher detergent. I'm surprised as to how my dishes got clean in that Bosch made Kenmore. It's much happier with Finish products exclusively.

Dawn

If you check the ingredients of cascade platinum plus, and compare it to dawn, you will see that it does not actually contain dawn.

The packet is actually claiming twice the grease cutting power of Dawn, it is just marketing spiel.

These two ingredients are listed as boosting the grease cleaning performance of cascade, and don't seem to be in dawn.

P&G use the Fairy brand here, and their platinum plus is the best capsule I've used. I've had my last dishwasher flood the floor with foam, which would happen just from the slightest trace of suds from fairy washing up liquid left behind from pre washing a pan, if it was not absolutely thoroughly rinsed, because the dishwasher was getting really old, and the rubber door seal, and all the seals in fact, had shrunk. There's no way a manufacturer would add an ingredient that could cause that much foam, without also including something to suppress it.
