I guess I've been living under a rock. I've heard at least one of his songs on the radio, and have heard the name, but never really knew who Andrea Bocelli is.

Then tonight I watched a PBS special with him performing a evening outdoor recital in an historic Tuscan square, singing both classic opera and more modern composition - including his duet with an Italian rock star. What a stunning voice!

yeah

Nice voice, interesting guy. Lawyer, blind, does charity work.
Did the theme song used for Henry Maske's last match, "Time to Say Goodbye".

But, oh, gosh, he chooses some pretty dreadful stuff so often...I swap songs with my friends; between us we all like all his stuff, all of us really love some, all of us really hate some of the others.

Lots of really good singers who kinda fly under the wire on both sides of the pond. Michael Bublè might please you since you like Bocelli.

The link is to the version most folks know from him; the woman fawning all over him is, herself a rather decent singer. Wish I were in her shoes...

The woman in the duet is Sarah Brightman, and that's the same footage as I saw in the PBS show tonight. Brightman is another great singer, IMHO, with great range, power and expression.

I thought it was nice the way she leaned on him lovingly in the latter part of the song. I noticed from his interactions with others in the concert that he really reacts very positively to physical contact.

Did you know.....

Even for people with no apreciation of classical music (myself included) I think this has got to be one of the most powerful and beautiful songs ever recorded. The chemistry between the singers is truly wonderful, and I would encourage everybody at AWO to take 4 minutes of personal time out of their busy day to watch the video link.

Incidentally, Sarah Brightman used to be married to Andrew Lloyd Weber, he of 'Cats' and many other Broadway spectaculars. She first hit the music scene way back in the '80s with a group called 'Hot Gossip'. They had a one hit wonder with a song called 'I lost my heart to a starship trooper', and was about as camp as one could legally be on day time TV back then.

I always thought she had a bit of a wooden personality until I saw her being interviewed on prime time tv last year by Graham Norton. Mr. Norton (famous for making celebrities squirm and wish they had never agreed to appear on the show) asked her why she had married Mr Weber in the first place, as he was not exactly 'the prettiest boy in the school yard'. She thought about it, took one look at him and replied 'perhaps, but he has an enormous willy'.... Try as he may, Graham never quite recovered the moment, and Sarah's wooden personality myths were dispelled forever....
