Just scored this DE102 yesterday. Craigslist find. The couple I got it from said it's been in their family since around 1962 and were giving it away since they had no use for it anymore and it was just taking up space. They wanted to make sure it went to a good home,so after I told them that I'd be driving a few hours and hundreds of miles to get it, they were pretty convinced I wasn't just some scrapper telling them what they wanted to hear.
I haven't had a chance to plug it in to see if it works yet but they claimed they were using it pretty recently and it worked great. They also mentioned the heating element was replaced about 20 years ago but other than it's been trouble free.
I'm guessing it's from '62? Can anyone confirm?
I was also actually a little surprised (and slightly disappointed) to see that this model doesn't have a panel that illuminates... Couldn't really tell in the pic they had posted but when it's free you usually have nothing to lose anyway so I didn't ask to many questions...
I'm wondering is it possible to swap the control panel from another dryer of the same era that illuminates?
