Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

If I am going for any cooking level other than Chernobyl-style nuking, I choose to use the Amana MW for its power levels because Amana was, I think, unique in offering the rapid cycling of the magnetron in measurements of fractions of seconds instead of measurements of fractions of minutes. It is really neat to put a small, properly supported fluorescent tube AND a glass cup of water in an Amana and watch it operate at various power levels. The light will flash on and off all through the operation at less than full power while most microwaves that were contemporaries of the real, original, Radar Ranges, if you selected half power, would cycle the magnetron for 30 seconds out of each minute.

It's a terrible waste of irreplaceable objects to do it now, but a flash bulb in a microwave oven gave a fabulous flash of light for a fraction of a second as well as screams and funny backward jumps.
