Anyone need one of these?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

I WANT ONE!!!!!!

That's the exact model we had growing up. It was followed by the Dishmaster and may have been bought out by them. My Mom had a flying it when she saw this was the dishwasher that they said was free if you bought the disposal they also made. Her mother,Mado, loved it and used it regularly. My sister and brother though demolished the attachments including the disposal cover that had to be attached in order for it to work (batch feed)at all. We figured out how to press the button inside the cavity and,of course, one time when it was my turn to do the dishes.I went to grind the food particles up and a paring knife had fallen, sharp edge up and severely cut up my index finger. not long after that,we removed the disposal and used the regular kind of stoppers that would catch the particles and keep the drain open.Wow,I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.

That "Electro-sink" center looks interesting--It appears the machine is packed in what looks like salesmans cases for DTD presentation.A few things though-the blender, mixer look like they only prepare very small amounts. And I would be concerned about using the UV light all of the time. But the device looks like a great addition to any appliance collection and the thing looks gently used-for sales presentations?

What a gimmick!

I wonder how durable it is. An electric button for hot and cold water? This was the unit I saw somewhere and was asking about in that earlier thread about the Hotpoint Sink/DW combination.
This is an entirely different company and product. I wonder how many they sold and how long they lasted? Anybody know?
Truly a museum piece Peter!

Didn't Laura Petrie have one of these in the early episodes?

Still not too keen about combining water, electricity and grounds in the same area. I'd definitely love to have one, though. Great score!

Peter! a gadget lover's ecstasy! --can I say W>D>

That's one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Only you, Peter LOL. Are you going to hook it up and keep it or what?

How wild to learn what we must do to rouse the great Veg-o-matic from his slumber. YAY!--figures it would have to be a sink-chopper/blender : - )

How I would LOVE to have one of those--a TOL washing machine control panel to operate the sink. Gadzooks!

I have one of these

I am about to retire one of these units from my Mother's home. She just passed away and has had one working since 1964.

I know this is an old thread... But I can testify that this unit is of quality design and there is absolutely no danger using the device. It runs off of low voltage from a power supply located under the sink.

Ok I dont know if you guys saw under the section marked "BLENDER RECIPES", the tasty concoction called the "LIVER SPECIAL".

Somehow, the thought of raw liver, milk, chocolate and banana kinda makes me convulse!

Who thought up those recipes for this appliance? Dracula?

"Liver Special" makes me gag just reading the recipe-seriously-LIVER Smoothie?Considering what livers do-I will pass.Toxins from your body or whatever "owned" the liver last accumilate there. If you make the liver smoothie with polar bear liver-you will die-polar bear livers are TOXIC!!
The "Electro Sink" is back-it is an interesting device-The motor drives on this-the blender drive looks like a Waring "Wagon Wheel" drive and the other motor looks like a Blendtec drive socket!Nonetheless a cool machine and would make a neat find. The pushbutton faucet controls-that would be a worry-what if they fail? Will the water flow all of the time or not at all when the button is pushed. Can you "blend" the water temps with this?-like what you could do with a "joystick" faucet or one with a control knob for hot or cold.

We used to love to make Ice Cream with this thing. However, I think my favorite was making a shake in the blender. It was the first blender I ever saw. Some years ago, I stripped the whole thing down and had it re-chromed. I even made a custom faceplate for it with a silk screen that said "Darlene's Sink Center".

My Mother loved it and I promised her that I would keep it going as long as she was alive. She just passed away a month ago...

I plan on going over to her house and making a video of the thing in a few days. Most of the stuff still works. I could never find a blender for it after the one we had gave up.

Last year on EBAY I missed someone selling all the attachements as New Old Stock. That would have been amazing to have all those pieces.

It was pretty rugged. Basically, there are three valves. A center mixing valve and one each for Hot and Cold. When you push both buttons you got the mix and then you adjusted the temp and flow with the three valves. What you find out is that you really don't need to mess that much with the temp. You either want Hot Warm or Cold.

We did stop using the Dishwashing Wand. It was the main thing that would leak. I rebuilt the diverter on it several times.

The whole thing ran from 24 VAC and a transformer that was installed under the sink. It is still the original one and works just fine.

The only place I ever saw another one was on the Dick Van Dyke show. The one they had there was missing the motors on either side. I think they thought it looked too big for the sink they had on the show.

Check back in about a week and I will post some video..
