Hey Guys,

I was watching The price Is right DVD's last night, that came out this week.
Most episodes are from 1972, 1973, and 1975.
You can see quite a few center dial Maytag washer and dryer sets. They are gorgeous when brand new. Speed Queen W/D, Westinghouse W/D. G.E. W/D with the huge door on the dryer.
Also, the Modern Maid cooking/cleaning center (dishwasher, stove top and oven on top). Kelvinator D&M dishwasher.
Also in the 1957 original episodes, a whole kitchen by Westinghouse, with a pull out dishwasher (looks quite heavy to push back in).
I did not watch the last DVD yet, which features episodes from 2007 (Bob Barker's last week).
Also cool to Janice so young.

I thought you guys and girls should find this interesting.

So it includes the Bill Cullen version? Must be some great appliance eye candy in those for sure! How cool to see brand new center dial 'tags showcased and gleaming under the lights!

cool

thatd be so fun to see. I keep asking on this site how far back that Lets make a deal goes but no one ever answers. I swer one night on the game show channel they had a black and white episode and a very kiddy looking Monty Hall. Also a few episodes later they showed a colored version where they gave away a whole kitchen set in copper brown, the washer and dryer being a stack set with widows in the door. Man maybe I halucinated it.

Bill Cullen's shows don't have much there except for the the total Westinghouse kitchen. But I was fast forwarding pretty fast.

But the white pair of center dials were so shiny under the lights. Great to look at. I paused the DVD and almost shed a tear.

Almost.

OMG.

***Gets in car, drives directly to place where one can obtain these DVDs.***

No Maytags were given away during this show, to my recollection... but I think there was a Vacuum Cleaner given away during the playing of Temptation.

i was tempted to post about the DVDs myself. In one episode, the game was Temptation and one prize was a Hoover iron and the other was a pair of Singer vacuums. and yes, the Maytags are lovely.

One glaring omission on the DVD set is the absence of Holly and Dian. No doubt there is still ill will regarding the various lawsuits. Seems like the episode selection was influenced by the need to exclude Holly. Dian is included in a couple of episodes, but with a brunette wig, seemingly to mimic the look of the absent Anitra.

i got mine from Amazon. It's a real treat to see the lovely Anitra, whom i had never seen before. Another thing i noticed, the contestants chosen in the early years were 90 percent women. And beautiful women at that.

Also a hoot, the video on these early/mid 70s episodes is CLEARER than the more recent video. You can see each and every one of Bobs wrinkles and sunspots.

Loved watching the DVDs, but if there is another edition, we need to see Holly and Dian. Its not ALL about Bob!

Way Cool!!!

I had no idea that this was out on DVD!
Sounds like so much fun! I have always loved the Price is Right. My Grandmother and I would watch it everyday, and then watch her favorite soap opera "Day's of our Lives", and then we would take a nap. We would then get up, and eat Jello with Cool Whip, and then watch "All My Children"! This took place for about 12 years. What a life right? I really miss her.

**Vapors**

So, I hit Best Buy, on the way to a going away party for a co-worker of mine.

Here's me, remembering what I bought, on the way home (after a few drinks).

Everyone is rushing to Best Buy. I hope no one gets hurt. I am going to feel guilty about causing such a commotion.

On a side note: It's true that there is a lot of women contestants, but on one of the shows, there is one hot men contestant who goes up on stage.

oops, I might have revealed something here about myself. LOL.

I've seen modern washers & dryers given away on the show too. Once in a daytime episode, they gave away a Whirlpool Calypso/Senseon set. The most recent appliance pair I've seen was a Miele Front-Load Washer/Dryer pair on a $1,000,000 Spectacular. On another $1,000,000 Spectacular, they gave away a Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer. Both 1,000,000 Spectaculars had Drew Carey as host but I think the normal episode had Bob Barker.

Those Bill Cullen episoes of TPIR were aired about 10 years ago on GSN. If they were more vigilant in renewing their contract to continue airing all the Goodson-Todman game shows, we might still be enjoying nearly ALL the surviving original "Price" episodes, as well the ones they had from the Bob Barker-era...

Giving away Maytags...but...

Interesting they gave away center-dial Maytags during Bill Cullen's version of 'TPIR', but I seem to recall Frigidaire was one of the sponsors of the nighttime "Price" around 1960...because I remembered the slogan and the jingle..."Frigidaire Advanced Appliances designed with YOU in mind..."

Frigidaire actually sponsored the daytime version of TPIR.
BTW, I taped all the Cullen-era episodes when GSN aired them. and in a couple of 1958 shows, an RCA Whirlpool (as it was known back in the olden days) home laundry: TOL Imperial washer and dryer, and an Ironer...
