I was in Target yesterday, where I was able to get my powdered Cheer, as well as my liquid. They did not have my Suavitel Softener though. I opened up a bottle of April Fresh Downy and gave it a sniff. It smelled like the liquid antibiotics my mother gave me when I was sick as a kid. April fresh my ass!!! What happened???
Mike

Hi MIke, I TOTALLY AGREE!!! To me and several of my friends it smells mouldy. You have to call in to DOWNY and let them know. They want to know this. I dont mind then adding new scents, but leave he old one there. That was my favorite. I was in Walmart the other day walking down the detergen isle, and I thought I was going to get sick. WHY SO MUCH SCENT???? Being older I remember when Down first came out. Back in the 50, early 60's you had NuSoft, Sta Puff and then Downy and Final Touch. They all had a nice clean scent to them

P&G is pandering

P&G changed the scent around the end of last year. They claim that market research showed them that customers wanted more scent, so, they added " Scent (Stink) Pearls"!
I, too, bought a bottle last year unaware of the change. My clothes stunk so bad, I had
to rewash, and also use the tub clean cycle to get the scent out of my washer.

You can go to Downy's website to complain, but, I doubt it will do any good. The majority
of the posters on Downy.com hate the new scent, and all they do is respond with a generic
"I am sorry you are unhappy with the change" response.

In the meantime, NuSoft is still being manufactured..
You can buy NuSoft on Amazon.com. I was lucky enough to find it in a store here in Florida.
Final Touch is also a great choice. Both have very light, fresh scents. Just like a fabric softener
should be!

Final Touch has become my new Fab Softener...doesn't leave residue in the wash basket, classic smell. I may have to try NuSoft...never have before.

I have always avoided some of the more bizarre fragrances that have flooded the shelves in favour of more traditional ones but last year, I discovered Comfort Sunshine whilst on holiday in Portugal of all places and recently, discovered Comfort Melon and Lotus Flower, which smells divine!!

I ordered NuSoft from their website...should be here in a few days...hope it smells classic and stays in the fabric.

For anyone that has a Save-a-lot nearby...

I don't use fabric softener very much, but for those rare times that I do, I have a bottle of the Angel Fresh from Save-a-lot. Nice soft fragrance in the same tradition of original April Fresh, softens well, and is not expensive. The scent seems to hold well too.

Mike, my vote goes for April Fresh as well. Not expensive and sure smells very much like the original Downey!! I believe is the same product that Robert gets at Fleet and Farm in Minneapolis only with a different label.

Hey guy's my friend from Scranton Pa gave me four gems..

Out of the four was this 1970's Downy bottle that I hold in lock and key lol.

THE SMELL SENDS CHILLS DOWN MY SPINE ...It is the origenal scent I grew up with.

Just for very, very, special laundry!

I forgot about save a lots brand I will seek it and try.
Downy people I just dont no what to do or say to them there are more interested in you trying to make a new scent for them.

Thats whats in the web site recently.

I really have not smelled this scent in decades.

That's why I cheerish it.

Ah, that wonderful tapered cap...I miss that the most.  Shake it up every now and then to keep it mixed--I would imagine it will start separating eventually?

Dryer sheets------

They may have the old scent, but no way on Earth am I gunking up my dryer with those things! At college, all the dryers were just SLIMY with dryer sheet residue, and this was in the late 70s!

I hate, loathe, despise, detest, abhor, and abominate dryer sheets. About the best that can be said for dryer sheets is that they make good fireplace tinder.

I use dryer sheets correctly and never have had problems. I do noticemthat the scents are more chemical and not as nice as liquids. I use both sometimes.
