We have a Hotpoint (Ariston) Aqualtis 1600 RPM 8kg which is a few years old but, has been in storage for quite some time. (2 years!). It was fully drained, transit bolts fitted, filter and drawer were removed to allow air circulation and prevent mould growth and it was absolutely perfect when it was restarted recently. Clean and fresh inside!
We moved it into our new house, set it up and powered it up and it worked fine, but then reported F18 - "The washing machine is blocked.." error message.
This was a little weird as the pump chamber seemed fine, however I suspect that the problem may have been that someone ran a Fast-Wash cycle with 2 X dissolve in the drawer Persil tablets. I think they failed to dissolve and temporarily clogged the sump.
Anyway, the machine kept reporting the same error message just before the spin cycle so, someone got the bright idea of back flushing the drain hose with water from the tap. It cleared the blockage, but I think it might have caused a little water to spray from the connection of the drain hose to the pump and into the bottom of the machine. I don't think the clips are designed to hold back slightly higher pressure water.
The machine then started showing weird malfunctions like it was just stopping during the spin, going blank then switching itself off and on again!
I unplugged it, as I didn't want any damage to the electronics and let it dry out over night and it seems to be having quite normally now.
Is there anything I should test / check ?
E.g. would it be worth flipping it onto its side (slightly) and drying the PCB with a slightly warm hairdryer?
Obviously, I will check the clips on the drain hose etc later on.
Hopefully it dries out fully and starts working properly again.
Is there any possibility that the ball valve could be misbehaving because it was allowed to fully dry out for so long (2 years) ? Would that prevent the machine draining quickly / produce error messages?
